NoMa Summer Screen: Silver Linings Playbook

Head to the Loree Grand Field (250 K Street, NE) today, June 4, to watch Silver Linings Playbook! Grab your friends, family, and a blanket and enjoy this free film under the stars at NoMa Summer Screen. Music, giveaways, food trucks, picnicking, and fun for all ages start at 7 PM, film starts at sunset. Silver Linings Playbook will be screened with subtitles. Coolers, children, and friendly (leashed) dogs are welcome. Please note that Silver Linings Playbook is rated R.
The food trucks participating in tonight’s NoMa Summer Screen are Popped! Republic, The Big Cheese Truck, DC Empanadas, DC Slices, and Pleasant Pops.

Rhythm in NoMa Returns Thursday

Rhythm in NoMa, a free live concert series begins this Thursday, June 5! Enjoy everything from steel drums to funk at the Union Center Plaza (810-840 First Street, NE). These lunchtime concerts will take place every Thursday afternoon from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM until July 17. Jazz up your lunch break with live music and free outdoor WiFi with your friends and coworkers.
This Thursday’s concert will feature R&B jams by Johnny Artis. Here is this summer’s full lineup:

- June 19: Annie Sidley (R&B)
- June 26: The Pantones (Steel Drums)

Do More 24: Give Back to Your Community
On June 19, Open Arms Housing, Inc. will be participating in Do More 24. Powered by United Way of the National Capital Area, this 24-hour online fundraiser will raise much-needed funding for Open Arms Housing and other local nonprofit organizations working throughout the Washington, DC region. Open Arms Housing, Inc.'s mission is to provide permanent homes with a welcoming and supportive environment to women who are homeless with a wide range of mental health issues. Currently, their building is home to 16 formerly homeless women.
Get involved: open Arms Housing needs volunteers to assist with their fundraising efforts and event coordination for Do More 24. Email info@openarmshousing.org to join the OAH Street Team.
New CSA in Bloomingdale
Radix Farm is now offering a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) pick-up in Bloomingdale! Members will pick up their CSA share each Thursday outside of Big Bear Café at 1700 First Street, NW from 5:30-7:00 PM. To sign up, please click here to fill out the online registration form.
CSA members will receive a weekly share of a wide variety of fresh and seasonal produce. Radix Farm grows over 50 types and hundreds of varieties of vegetables in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, less than 10 miles from DC. Their farm is Certified Naturally Grown, which means they follow organic practices to grow high-quality, diversified produce for the CSA, farmers markets, and restaurants. |
