Tonight: Lobby Project Art Opening
Join local art lovers tonight, October 21 from 6-8 PM to celebrate the newest art installation in the Lobby Project. The art opening features art by Michael Crossett, a DC-based painter, photographer and graphic designer. The event is free and open to the public, and light fare and drinks will be provided. The Lobby Project art installations are possible through a partnership with Washington Project for the Arts.
Thursday: Pumpkin Carving Happy Hour
Swing by NoMa's annual Pumpkin Carving Happy Hour on Thursday, October 23 and carve a free pumpkin! This year's party will include free pumpkins, a live bluegrass music, petting zoo, and more. Delicious food and seasonal alcoholic beverages (for the over 21 crowd) will be available for purchase from Union Kitchen vendors.

The Happy Hour will take place from 4-7 PM on October 23 at 1100 First Street, NE (corner of First and Pierce Streets, NE). The reserved pumpkins have all been taken, but there will be 100 pumpkins available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the event.
NoMa Underpass Competition Continues

The NoMa Underpass Competition aims to transform NoMa's four dark underpasses at Florida Avenue and M, L, and K Streets, NE into safe, inspiring spaces with light and art. To provide feedback on the submissions, click here to take the online survey!

The NoMa Parks Foundation received 248 submissions from 14 countries, and the jury will select the winners by year-end. Click here for the full list of prestigious finalists. Installation of the winning designs will begin in 2015. The NoMa Underpass Competition is a partnership between the NoMa Parks Foundation, the District of Columbia government, WMATA, and Amtrak.

Grand Opening: Elevation at Washington Gateway
Elevation at Washington Gateway will host its Grand Opening celebration October 23 from 7- 9 PM at 100 Florida Avenue, NE. Complimentary food and drink will be available, and there will be a DJ on the rooftop.

Food and drink will be provided by Belga, BToo, Kapnos, Range, Gina Chersevani of Hank's Oyster Bar, and award winning local craft brewery Atlas Brew Works. Guests must be 21+ with a valid ID. Click here to RSVP.

Kiss & Ride, Cell Phone Waiting Lots at Union Station
Union Station is pleased to announce the opening of a Cell Phone Waiting Lot and Kiss & Ride available for all station visitors. The lot, located inside the parking garage off H Street, NE, includes 10 spaces and will double in size this winter once construction is complete.

Union Market Drive-In
Join Union Market for a drive-in movie every Friday in October at 8PM. Parking costs $10. Schedule:

Barktoberfest
The Hilton Garden Inn U.S. Capitol presents Barktoberfest on October 25 to benefit Pet Harbor Rescue. Tickets cost $40, and includes food and beverages including beer, wine and sangria. There will also be a silent auction. Dogs are allowed, and there will be a prize for best dog costume.

Taste of H
Get your tickets, dress up and experience Taste of H at the historic Atlas Performing Arts Center. The Third Annual Taste of H Auction on October 26 from 5-9 PM includes live music, DJ, and a live and silent auction. General admission tickets cost $45, and VIP tickets cost $65 which includes a wine tasting at Le Grenier. Proceeds from this event support JO Wilson Elementary School.

Help Plant a New Garden on the MBT
Stop by the Metropolitan Branch Trail on the morning of November 8 to help plant the Paul Meijer Garden. Paul Meijer is a long-time DC resident and supporter of the MBT, and has advocated for a safe, well-connected trail for decades. Join the planting team in celebrating Paul's contributions to the community.

The planting will take place Saturday, November 8th from 8 AM to noon near the pedestrian bridge at Rhode Island Avenue, NE. Sign up to volunteer or consider a small donation here!

Bike and Roll Annual Bike Sale
Mark your calendars for Bike and Roll's annual DC fleet sale on  November 9 from 11AM to 3PM. The sale will be held on Bike and Roll's National Mall location in L'Enfant Plaza. All sales are final and cash only.

Eckington Beautification Day
Join the Eckington Civic Association on November 15 for the last 2014 Beautification Day from 10 AM to 12 PM. The event will start at the Harry Thomas Recreation Center (1743 Lincoln Road, NE), and will be followed by a community gathering at 12 PM.
