The Buzz on NPR
National Public Radio (NPR), and their over 800 employees, are fully moved into their new flagship headquarters in NoMa as of April 24. Read Interior Design magazine's photo-laden story about the interior spaces. Daily public tours of their unique space started June 3. Sign up here. Tours occur daily at 11 AM.

Have you heard the "buzz” around NPR? There are two hives on the fourth floor roof.  These bees are so popular, they even have their own (unofficial) twitter handle.

NPR designed a bike garage that holds 72 bikes. All of those slots are filled daily, and NPR is now planning an additional 16 slots for a total of 84 bikes, which equates to 10% of their employee base.

First Street Construction Update
If you’ve taken a walk down First Street, NE in the past few weeks, then you know that the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has begun reconstructing the street. Weather permitting, construction will be completed within nine months. Construction will take place between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. During construction, First Street, NE will be a one-way street traveling southbound, and curbside parking will not be available.

The First Street reconstruction project will result in improved roadway pavement, storm drains, streetlights, traffic signals, upgraded sidewalk and pedestrian ramps, and the installation of granite curbs, brick gutters, a cycle track, sodding, landscaping, and water and sewer lines.

DDOT created a website and a listserv that provides daily updates. NoMa will give regular project updates on Facebook and Twitter. For more information, visit the construction page of NoMa BID’s website.
