We need YOU for a Beatles Inspired Video on Friday

|
 |
Celebrate the anniversary of the first Beatles Concert in North America by lending your voice to sing the iconic "She Loves You" this Friday! Did you know the Beatles played their first concert in North America at NoMa's Uline Arena on February 11, 1964? The DC Preservation League and Douglas Development Corporation are reenacting that concert 50 years later on the same date, in real time, at the original venue, with the original playlist. Click here to purchase tickets.
As part of this celebration the event organizers are putting together a short video highlighting DC's biggest landmarks (The Capitol, Union Station, etc), with celebrities (politicians, journalists, etc) and YOU singing clips of "She Loves You," a tune that was part of the setlist from the Beatles' first concert. If you are interested in being featured in this video, please meet out front of Uline Arena, located at Third and M Streets, NE, at 3 PM this Friday, December 13. Please bring your friends, family, dogs, and coworkers for this fun and quirky activity! If you have any questions please email NoMa BID Marketing & Events Associate Ali Newman at anewman@nomabid.org.

The holiday season is approaching, and with it comes an increased awareness of helping those in need. There are many ways to give back to your community, including:
-
Food Drives:
A. H Street FRESHFARM Market's fourth annual food drive is collecting monetary donations to get fresh food from local farmers for those in need. All collected food goes to First Church, which is working with the Director of Community Services at Brookland Manor to identify families in need to receive baskets of fresh food. This food drive helps those in need and simultaneously supports local farmers. For more information, visit FRESHFARM’s website. Monetary donations can be made online, or mailed to Director of Markets and Programs Juliet Glass at FRESHFARM Markets located at P.O. Box 15691, Washington, DC 20003.
B. The Metropolitan Police Department and Food for Families are joining forces to organize a food drive, and are collecting canned goods and non-perishable items at First District Station at 101 M Street, SW and 500 E Street, SE. The First District Citizens Advisory Council is coordinating First District’s efforts to assist with this initiative. All food donations dropped off at one of the two locations are greatly appreciated. Suggested donations include: canned fruits and vegetables, macaroni, and other non perishables. If you are interested in having your apartment or office building become a drop-off location for these household donations, please contact NoMa BID Marketing & Events Associate Ali Newman at anewman@nomabid.org.
-
