New & Coming Soon: Dunkin' Donuts, Union Social, MOM's Organic Market
MOM's Organic Market is now open on New York Avenue. The grocery store is in the former Hechts warehouse located at 1501 New York Avenue, NE. The store is open Monday-Saturday from 9AM-9PM, and Sundays from 9AM-8PM.

Dunkin' Donuts will open its first location in later NoMa this month in a 1,400 SF retail space on the ground floor of 3 Constitution Square.

Also coming soon to NoMa is Union Social, a train-station-themed restaurant that features a scratch kitchen and craft bar. Union Social will be located at 100 Florida Avenue, NE and is expected to open in the spring of 2015. Described as "casual, fine dining," the restaurant will offer 142 indoor seats, 18 bar seats and 52 outdoor seats on a tree-lined patio.
Art Opening December 11
Meet artist JD Deardourff, sip on free wine, and enjoy fantastic art at the opening reception of JD Deardourff's Lobby Project exhibition on Thursday, December 11. Click here to RSVP for this free event.

JD Deardourff is a D.C.-based artist who makes abstract landscapes based on comic book collages. The event is free and open to the public from 6 PM to 8 PM, at the Lobby Project at 1200 First Street, NE. Wine and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Construction Updates
Two major construction projects in NoMa will impact residents, workers, drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians over the next six months.

Phase Two of Third Street Tunnel Construction
The second phase of the construction on Third Street and Massachusetts Avenue, NW has begun, and is estimated to last six months. The Third Street Tunnel project is a multi-phase development that will include new pedestrian and vehicular corridors, traffic patterns, and safety features to the area above I-395.

Construction will take place Monday-Friday from 7 AM to midnight, and Saturday-Sunday as needed. Drivers in the area should expect detours. For more information on the Third Street Tunnel, contact the project's public outreach office at (202) 719-0196.

First Street, NE Construction
Extensive reconstruction of First Street, NE between G Street and Massachusetts Avenue began on November 17 and is expected to last six months. Construction will be taking place Monday-Friday from 8 AM and 7 PM. 
The First Street construction project will include reconstruction of sidewalks, installation of a cycle track, resurfacing of the roadway, upgrading of street lighting, and more.

NoMa Underpass Competition: Last Chance to Take the Survey

The NoMa Underpass Competition aims to transform NoMa's four dark underpasses at Florida Avenue and M, L, and K Streets, NE into safe, inspiring spaces with light and art. The survey closes today, so click here to take the online survey and provide feedback on the submissions.

The NoMa Parks Foundation received 248 submissions from 14 countries, and the jury will select the winners by year-end. Click here for the full list of prestigious finalists. Installation of the winning designs will begin in 2015. The NoMa Underpass Competition is a partnership between the NoMa Parks Foundation, the District of Columbia government, WMATA, and Amtrak.

Hoppy Holidays Beer Festival Saturday
Hoppy Holidays, an all-you-can-drink beer festival hosted by Drink the District is coming to Dock 5 at Union Market on Saturday, December 6. The festival will feature more than 50 beers, food trucks, live music, and games. Attendees can choose to attend one of three sessions from 12-3 PM, 4:30-7:30 PM, and 9 PM-12 AM. Dock 5 is located at 1309 Fifth Street, NE. Tickets cost $40, and ticket sales end December 6. The festival is for individuals ages 21 and over.

Community Events and Updates
ANC 6 Community Meeting December 10
There will be a community meeting next Wednesday, December 6 to discuss community developments, including future construction projects. The meeting will be at 6:30 PM at the Two Rivers Public Charter School, located at 1227 Fourth Street, NE.

Gallery NK Holiday Special December 14
Join Gallery NK for a Holiday Special on Sunday, December 14. The small work holiday show will be open from 3-8 PM, and art by Nihal Kececi will be available for purchase. Gallery NK is located at 321 K Street, NE. Guests may RSVP by December 10. If you cannot attend but still wish to participate, you can purchase some of the art online.

Open Arms Housing Makes Washington City Paper's 2014 Give It Up D.C.
Each year, Washington City Paper and the Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington release the Give It Up, D.C, a guide to charitable giving. This year, Open Arms Housing has made the list! Open Arms Housing, located at 57 O Street, NW, offers a safe and inviting home to 16 women, and operates under a "housing first" model and supportive services.

Capital Bikeshare Station Opening at Union Market
A new Capital Bikeshare station will open at Union Market this month. Capital Bikeshare currently has over 300 stations in the greater D.C. area, including two stations on M Street, NE outside the NoMa Metro.
