Recruitment Crisis - Please Respond

In addition to the Tourism Employment Survey (see below), Visit Exmoor have become aware that Members are facing a recruitment crisis in our area. They have been speaking with our local authorities and partners to do all that we can to assist in these challenges.

In order to fully understand the extent of the problem it would be very helpful if you could email Max (details below) with the following information:
  • What vacancies do you have (skill area and number)?
  • How long these have vacancies been open?
  • What is the impact on your business while these vacancies remain unfilled?

Tourism Employment Survey

With the reopening of the tourism and hospitality sectors, one of the main issues that is arising is staff shortages with many businesses reporting that they are finding it difficult to recruit the staff they need. As such, at a recent Tourism Alliance board meeting, it was agreed to undertake a short survey across the industry to gauge the extent of the problem so that this can be fed through to Government.

The Tourism Alliance have put together a short 10 question survey for businesses which takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Please contribute - click on the link below and complete by Friday 28th May 2021.

Would you like to be involved in Fiver Fest next month? Last Call!

As you may have seen from recent newsletters, Fiver Fest is a National event for independent retailers, running for two weeks from 12th – 26th June.  It was created by an organisation called “Totally Locally”.
The idea of the two week campaign grew from a Totally Locally message showing the huge impact people spending  £5 per week in local independent shops can have on our High Streets.

Fiver Fest is strictly for independent businesses, of which we have many in Minehead.

The £5 message seems to have captured the imagination of many people, and makes it easy for people to say “I’m going to spend my £5 to support my High Street”.  It also shows that your business appreciates and values your customers by putting together a great offer for them.

All you need to do is to create an irresistible £5 offer! For potential customers, Fiver Fest is all about getting great bargains for a fiver! Offers should be something with a £5 spend to tie in with the £5 message - something discounted from a usual price of at least £7/8, but the bigger the discount the better!
Several businesses have been in touch to say they'll take part so Sharon and Livvi at Daffodil PR will be signing up and will be in touch .

If you would like to join in as well, please get in touch with them to let them know (link below).

In the meantime, here is a link to the "How to do a Fiver Fest" page so you can start preparing:
