Image of the Month
Since 2006 an image from the collections of the UAB Archives has been posted each month to highlight an event or person in the history of UAB. The Image of the Month has proven to be a popular offering from the archives, and the images posted are often requested for use in other university websites or publications. Click HERE to see all the photos posted by the UAB Archives.
Also, the website of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion now contains a brief timeline for historical information on women at UAB. The website is a result of a presentation made to the members of UAB’s Commission on the Status of Women, and it uses material provided by the UAB Archives. The Women @ UAB Timeline is currently available HERE.
Finals Time Again
The staff of UAB Libraries knows what it’s like to make it through finals. This year we are continuing the tradition of supporting our awesome students in this stressful time. Whether you need a snack to fuel your finals or need to take a quiet creative break, we’ve got something planned just for you! Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates.
Toys for Fines 2017 Charity Drive
UAB Libraries are once again held their Toys for Fines holiday charity drive to bring smiles to children who may not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season. Patrons with overdue fines (current or prior) had up to $20 waived when they donated a new, unwrapped toy for a child (infant through 12 years of age) to the Toys for Tots drive. These contributions support UAB’s 24th Annual Holiday Toy Drive in conjunction with Toys for Tots to benefit local children. Donations were accepted until the morning of December 11th at Lister Hill and Sterne libraries. That morning, donors and guests greeted Santa Clause at the "Drive-thru Santa" event held at 8:00 am at the Administrations Building. At 3:00pm, the Marine Corps picked up the toys from the AB Lobby.
LibQUAL+ Survey
During the fall semester, UAB Libraries participated, along with several hundred libraries from around the world, in the LibQUAL+ survey to evaluate libra ry resources and surveys. With input from users, UAB Libraries will be able to plan improvements.
The UAB Libraries Assessment Committee thanks everyone who took the time to complete the recent LibQUAL+ survey; the committee is in the process of reviewing the survey results and comments received. As UAB Libraries makes changes and improvements, more information will be released.
