Rarely seen PROV petitions signed by early Chinese settlers are on show at the Museum of Democracy (MADE) in Ballarat.

As part of the Chinese Fortunes exhibition, about early Chinese settlers to Victoria, the archived petitions reflect the active role merchants, entrepreneurs, medical practitioners, and farmers played in developing Australia. Learn more about this exhibition. Learn more..

Photographs of historic hairstyles from the 1880s to the present day will be on show for one more month at the VAC Gallery. 

Featuring historic hairstyles from Public Record Office Victoria’s state archival collection, the photographs take visitors down memory lane, and position the styles within their historical and social context. Learn more

Public Record Office Victoria will be retiring its current website this month. 

For the past few months Public Record Office Victoria have been testing a new beta website with the public. Thank you for your helpful feedback, we have put in place many changes and we are excited to be ready to close the current website and offer you an easier researching path.
