Free Red Trolley to Begin Service to South Waterfront. Starts on Aug. 19, 2019

Tired of trying to find parking when you go downtown? The City of Knoxville has announced Knoxville Area Transit’s fourth free trolley line – the new Red Line, connecting a part of the South Waterfront and downtown – is scheduled to begin service on Monday, Aug. 19.

The trolley line will follow a circular route from the Trolley Superstop on Main Avenue south across the Gay Street Bridge, west on Blount Avenue, then north across the Henley Bridge back to Main. You can park in the Riverwalk Garage (formerly the Baptist Hospital Garage)for free on nights and weekends then pick up the trolley on Blount Avenue.

From the Superstop, a trolley passenger can access the free trolley lines to the University of Tennessee, the northern end of downtown and the Old City, the Civic Auditorium and Coliseum, and other destinations.

The Red Line will operate Monday through Saturday, with a trolley arriving at designated stops every 7 minutes. The trolleys will run Monday through Thursday until 8 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays until 10 p.m. Click here for full info.

Pop Up Pie, Flower, and Coffee Shop! Sunday, July 21st, 10am to 1pm, 923 N Central St.

Join Dale’s Fried Pies for a a pop-up pie shop!  Dale will be serving sweet and savory pies and coffee to help you start your Sunday morning.
We will also be joined by special guests, Refill Coffee Cart and Pink Petal Pusher flower truck. You’ll be able to build your own floral bouquet or a grab and go bouquet, and get your caffeine fix as well. More details here.

 

Adventure at Ijams Quarry. Saturday, July 20th, 4pm, 2915 Island Home Ave.


No Excuses gym adventure will be July 20th, 4:00 at the Mead’s Quarry parking lot. They will lead a short hike around the quarry and then play in the water. They have paddle boards, kayaks and canoes for $12 an hour. All ages can come, but a parent needs to accompany anyone under 18. Click here for more information.

Galaxy Slime! Saturday, July 20th, 11am to 12pm, Howard Pinkston Library 7732 Martin Mill Pike.


Bring your kids ages 4 and up to this FREE event. You kids will celebrate reading and get to make galaxy slime. All supplies will be provided! Details here

Downtown has free parking on nights and weekends, but with the expansion project at the State Street Garage, finding parking can be confusing. Keep up-to-date with the city of Knoxville parking blog by clicking here.

There's now an app that can help you strategically pick your parking garage destination, before you even start your car and pull out of the driveway.

Parkopedia.com offers a free phone app that reports data from sensors at the entrances to City-owned downtown garages. So you can see, in real-time, how many parking spaces are available at each garage.
