|RAMADAN 1440 (2019) REFLECTIONS
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh!
ALL PRAISE BE TO ALLAH (SWT) who blessed us with yet another opportunity to worship Him during the blessed month of Ramadan, Alhamdu lillah! This was the 12th Ramadan at ICBC and it was yet another memorable one for us. We were privileged to have the services of Hafiz Faizullah Bhayat of U. K. who led taraweeh prayers at our masjid. With the rapid growth of our community, a record number of people attended prayers at our Center, Masha Allah.
Taraweeh prayers was led by Hafiz Faizullah Bhayat of U. K. As in previous years, he was assisted by local youth Huffaz-- Abdullah Mohseen, Luqman Javed, Musab Abdullah, Nael Hussain, Samir Khan, and Yusuf Zaidi.
After four rak’ah Taraweeh, Hafiz Faizullah offered a brief explanation of the recited verses.
The Hafiz completed recitation of the Holy Qur‘an on the 29th night of Ramadan, and concluded the taraweeh prayers that night with dua'a. After taraweeh, mouth-watering refreshments were served, sponsored by a local Muslim-owned business.
QIYAAM AL-LAYL PRAYERS
Qiyaam Al-Layl prayers were led during the last 10 nights by Hafiz Faizullah.
Jumu’ah Khutbahs during the blessed month were delivered by Br.Qaiser Imam, Br. Amjad Mohamed, Sh. Attia Omara, Br. Essam Atalla, Br. Amjad Odetallah, Sh. Ahmed Momoh, Hafiz Faizullah and Br. Mustafa Erwa.
Hafiz Faizullah offered khatera every day after Fajr salah, Alhamdu lillah.
Some community members observed I’tekaf at ICBC during the last 10 days of Ramadan. May Allah (swt) accept their Ibaadah, Aameen.
We had community Iftar/dinners sponsored by generous community members every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This was the first Ramadan during which we had community Iftar on Fridays. Jazakum Allahu Khairan to all the sponsors and our dedicated volunteers!
During the last 10 nights, Sahoor meals were provided by community members, at the end of Qiyaam al-Layl prayers. Jazakum Allahu Khairan to the sponsors!
In the spirit of environmental conservation, ICBC provided drinking water though water coolers instead of individual water bottles. We thank the community members for their cooperation in this effort.
Earlier in the month, one family provided reusable water bottles (imprinted with ICBC logo) to community members. We thank the family for its generosity.
YOUTH & SISTERS ACTIVITIES:
We held the following activities during Ramadan. A key aspect of the activities for the youth this year has been that the events were planned and coordinated by our young members of our community. These teen-age group of boys and girls ensured the calendar throughout the month was filled with activities designed to foster a spirit of community service and of staying attached to the Masjid.
- Hafiz Faizullah taught Qur'an to boys and girls on Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
- Halaqa for sisters by Aalimah Sr. Amina, wife of Hafiz Faizullah, on Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
- We conducted an Islamic Quiz competition every day on various topics derived from the Qur’an.
- Youth Girls Program was held by Sr Affifa: Topics included Theology, Seerah, Law, History, Spirituality and Contemporary issues.
- A series of weekend girls activities was conducted by Sr Rafah
- We had a series of tournaments for boys of all ages starting at 8 years to 18 years. There was a Basketball Tournament followed by a soccer tournament, held on different days for the different age groups.
- The youth group organized a Qiyaam night for boys 14 and older. This was a well coordinated and planned event led by our community youth.
We held an Interfaith Iftar/Dinner on May 31st, which was attended by our non-Muslim neighbors as well as members of the Cedar Park Police department and the local fire station. We had a record number of people for Iftar at ICBC on that day. Br. Mustafa Erwa welcomed the guests and offered a brief overview of fasting. Hafiz Faizullah concluded the event with dua’a.
During the blessed month, our youth girls and Girl Scouts conducted separate bake sale events during two weekends to raise funds for the new masjid construction. About $15,500 was raised from the sales and matching donations from generous community members. Jazakum Allahu Khairan to all the community youth boys & girls and their parents for their participation as well as to the general community for its support of this great initiative by our youth.
We held a silent auction on a weekend during which we raised approx. $4,000. The funds were assigned to the new masjid construction project.
SECURITY AT ICBC
ICBC contracted with the Cedar Park Police Department to provide security at our Center during Friday Jumu'ah prayer times and Weekend Islamic School hours (on Sundays) as well as during Taraweeh, Iftar (Fridays through Sundays) and Tahajjud prayer times. Additionally, the Cedar Park Police department increased surveillance at our premises throughout the day. May Allah (swt) protect us all, Aameen.
We held short fundraisers for security related expenses after Jumu’ah prayers. The community response was overwhelming. We raised approx. $22K for this operations expense.
Whereas we are blessed with approx. 230 parking spaces at our Center, we ran out of parking on several days and had to use the in-field lawn area to park vehicles. Approx. 45 cars were parked there!
NEW MASJID CONSTRUCTION UPDATE AND FUNDRAISING:
The new masjid construction is going at full pace, Alhamdu lillah, with an expected completion in August '19, Insha Allah. We conducted two fundraisers in this blessed month towards the ongoing Masjid construction and raised the balance funds needed to complete the masjid. The community support was truly overwhelming! Jazakum Allahu Khairan!
It is only by the Grace of Allah (swt) and the support of the community that we have been able to continue the various programs and activities at ICBC. The services being offered could not have been possible without your dua’a, financial support, and feedback. The Executive Board requests your continued support in all our endeavors.
May Allah (swt) accept our Ibaadah and admit us into His Paradise, Aameen!
