Looking after where we live – Natural resource strategy open for public review

South coast communities are being asked for their feedback on the draft natural resource management strategy which is open for public review until 27 September 2018.
It is part of the region-wide community consultation process for the development of Southern Prospects. The regional strategy guides how South Coast NRM and the community work together to improve and maintain our environment.

It is open for public review on the South Coast NRM website

The south coast region covers 8.6 million hectares and stretches from Walpole to Esperance and inland to Tambellup and Salmon Gums. The region is home to more than 20% of Western Australia’s plants as well as critically endangered animals that are found nowhere else in the world, including the Gilbert’s potoroo and Western ground parrot.  It is internationally recognised as one of  the world’s biodiversity ‘hotspots’.
The strategy review project is funded by the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund and will be completed by October 2018, when the new Southern Prospects 2018-2023 will be available to the general public.
