It's been a busy couple of months since the start of 2019. Here's a selection of what we have been working on, dates for your diary and an introduction to our new team members...

First There is a Mountain | Katie Paterson | 21 July 2019

Join us at low tide on Glenbrittle Beach on Sunday 21 July to be part of Katie Paterson's UK-wide project, First There is a Mountain.

The artist has created of a set of ‘buckets and spades’ in the form of world mountains, from which the public will build mountains of sand across the UK coastline and play out the world’s natural geography against a series of tidal times. We are inviting you to join us to create sand mountains in the shape of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Shasta, Mount Fuji, Stromboli, and Uluru at the base of Skye's Black Cuillin. Read more.

CLIMAVORE: Educate | Cooking Sections

This is the second phase of our long-term project, CLIMAVORE: On Tidal Zones, with Cooking Sections. Creating a series of 'interventions' into the professional cookery and hospitality course at Portree High School, students will learn how to prepare and cook ingredients that clean the water by breathing. This will culminate in a series of apprenticeships for the students with restaurants around Skye over the summer holiday. We are also working with artist, Philippa Thomas, to deliver a 6-week workshop with Portree Primary using the oyster table in Bayfield and the tidal zone as the inspiration. Read more.

We're excited to embark on a new approach to developing our future with two figures from the international arts scene taking up positions at ATLAS. Caroline Winn and Rob Blackson join us for a year devoted to research and development.  Read more.
