Meet the winners of the Eurodesk Awards 2018

The Eurodesk Awards were established in 2011 to collect Eurodesk multipliers’ most inspiring and innovative local projects and highlight them at European level. In 2018, awards are given in three main categories: Mobility awareness, Active citizenship, Solidarity actions and a special Eurodesk Network Prize. The winning projects are:

The winners will be awarded at the Eurodesk Awards Ceremony on 23 May 2018 in the European Parliament.

Eurodesk Ukraine: a new member joined the Eurodesk network

Following the vote of Eurodesk members in April, the National Youth Council of Ukraine has officially become the Ukrainian Eurodesk national coordinator. The next step will include building up Eurodesk services in the country to provide quality youth information to young people and youth workers. Opening a coordinating office of Eurodesk in Ukraine represents a good opportunity for Ukrainian young people to gain additional resources for their development and mobility. Ukraine is the 35th country in which Eurodesk is present. This is another step forward to inform all young people about learning mobility opportunities across the world!

#Erasmusx10 campaign

Eurodesk, the LLLPlatform and the European Youth Forum have released a new piece to the Erasmusx10 campaign. To raise awareness and bring a human face to the Erasmus+ programme, they have created 10 fictive personas, with 10 different stories and 10 different reasons why Erasmus+ matters to them and why it is necessary to raise the Erasmus+ budget by ten times.

International Essay Contest for Young People

"Europe in my Region" Photo Competition

Organised by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy, the "Europe in My Region" Photo Competition invites young people over 18 years old to showcase EU-funded projects around Europe. The thirty winning pictures will be part of a photo exhibition that will travel across Europe and be promoted on the European Commission's website and social media.

Youth Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition

The Goi Peace Foundation, Stiftung Entrepreneurship and Digital Experts United, invite young people from 15 to 35 years old with an innovative idea for an enterprise which contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals, to submit their best ideas and project.


#CedefopPhoto Award 2018

The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) invites groups of vocational education and training (VET) learners in the EU, Norway and Iceland to share their VET experience by submitting a photo story. The winners will gain a trip to the European vocational skills week in Vienna or the Thessaloniki International Film Festival in November 2018.

Global Cultural Leadership Programme 

The Global Cultural Leadership Programme (GCLP) calls cultural leaders and practitioners from EU Member States, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, India, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, South Corea and USA to participate in the Global Cultural Leadership Programme. They will have the opportunity to improve their cultural skills and develop collaborative peer-to-peer learning and network building.

DiscoverEU: the free travel pass for young Europeans turning 18 

DiscoverEU is a new EU initiative that from this summer will offer 18 year old EU citizens the opportunity to travel around Europe and discover the continent's rich cultural heritage, get in touch with other people, learn from other cultures and as such discover what unites Europe. Participants will be able to travel up to 30 days and visit between 1 and 4 foreign destinations. In an application round to select the first 15,000 travellers, those interested will have to apply over a two-week period in the month of June 2018 via the European Youth Portal. Applicants must be 18 years old on 1st July 2018, EU citizens, and prepared to travel this summer.

Commission proposes long-term budget 2021-2027 

On 2nd of May, the European Commission proposed a long-term budget for the 2021-2027 period. Concerning Youth, the Commission will double the size of Erasmus+ to €30 billion and the European Solidarity Corps to €1,26 billion to give opportunities to more young people to study, train and volunteer abroad. Moreover, it will earmark funding for addressing youth unemployment within the European Social Fund.

Outcomes of the Bulgarian EU Youth Conference

From 17th to 19th April 2018, more than 250 young people, youth policy makers and other stakeholders from the youth field gathered in Sofia, Bulgaria, for the EU Youth Conference. The EUYC was part of the 6th cycle of the Structured Dialogue that will continue until the end of 18-month Trio Presidency (Estonia, Bulgaria and Austria) titled “Youth in Europe: what’s next?". The participants worked together inspired by young people’s opinions and willingness to shape the European youth policy and presented the so called “European Youth Goals”.

Survey on "Vocational Education and Training 2035"
The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) is currently working on a project focusing on the ‘Changing Nature and Role of Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Europe’. This research supports the European Commission and the EU Member States in setting objectives for post-2020 European cooperation in this area.
