Editorial: Endorsing Ellen Rutter for Town Moderator

I’m writing to endorse Ellen Rutter for Hopkinton's Town Moderator. Ellen grew up in a family committed to serving their community. She has applied those values to her life in Hopkinton over the years getting involved in local activities while working fulltime and raising her two sons. I’ve gotten to know Ellen over the last few years and consider her a friend. She’s a Princeton grad, holds an MBA from Fairfield University which she applied to create a very successful Marketing career in top companies. Ellen brings intelligence, process knowledge and skilled facilitation to her role as Deputy Town Moderator which she has had the opportunity to demonstrate. Ellen is well organized, thoroughly prepared, thoughtful, fair, and inclusive. She is committed to making Town Meeting the best it can be so more people have a voice and can participate in the process.

Thank you!

Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce Urges Support

Annual Town Election will be held next Monday, May 20, 2019, with polls opening at 7 am at Hopkinton Middle School. Four Ballot Questions, each of which received Town Meeting approval, will be on the Annual Town Election Ballot. While all of the questions are important, the Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is particularly interested in:

Questions 3 and 4, which deal with much-needed downtown parking, especially considering the upcoming Downtown Corridor Project that is expected to begin next Spring and last 2 consecutive construction seasons.

It is important to note that Question 4 allows the Hopkinton Select Board to purchase an interest in land for a municipal parking lot behind the buildings at 25-35 Main St. The purchase price would result in a fully constructed parking lot as the land is being donated.

The Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce urges voters to cast a yes vote in favor of Questions 1, 2, 3 and 4.
