VC Newsletter
26 February '21

Ohh heyyyy!

Cristina & Debbie here and welcome back to another instalment of the VC Newsletter.

This week, we are looking forward to more hopeful times after the announcement of BoJo's 4 step plan to end lockdown restrictions. Our countdown to freedom has begun. *Cough 21st June*

Now, we don't want to get ahead of ourselves. Things can change, and if the turbulence of last year is anything to go by, then we should probably stay cautious.
Debbie’s Words of Encouragement...
The oppression and restrictions of Covid-19 will not last, better days are coming and we will be free of all fear and have that wonderful peace and freedom of movement that we all enjoy.

Sometimes I like to visualise all social venues fully opening up again, the restaurants, clubs and pubs; people happy and laughing on a Friday afternoon as they enjoy a drink outdoors with friends or work colleagues, as they prepare for an even better weekend.
Looking ahead...
We asked Youth Music staff, what are the three things they're looking forward to the most when it's safe to mingle again,...
  1. Get my hair chemically straightened at a professional salon
  2. Go back to the New Church I only started visiting just before lockdown
  3. Throw a big family get together
  1. I’d like to hug people without worrying whether I’m being antisocial
  2. Dance the night away in a sweaty club or house party
  3. See my family whenever I want!
  1. Be able to just be in a crowded space and not hyperventilate
  2. Go eat pizza at Homeslice
  3. Go to the theatre/cinema/live shows/gigs
    (The dream!)
  1. Hug my grandparents
  2. Go to a festival
  3. Go back to am dram
  1. Get into peoples personal space without getting arrested
  2. Eat out 3 times a day
  3. Have a communal hug/cry/dance with more than 6 people
(Basically, a traditional Youth Music night out)
  1. Join a Ryan Air queue and not complain
  2. Compere at a Youth Music staff Give a Gig, like a phoenix rising from the ashes
  3. Complain when there are too many people at an exhibition
In the meantime, we'll be waiting for the 21st June like...
We Care
Even though the prospect of freedom is making us all giddy with excitement, here is a gentle reminder to look after yourselves.

We all have access to a really helpful support service under the app ‘WeCare’. The app offers you instant medical consultations for GP, second medical opinions, smoking cessation, diet and nutrition, burn out prevention, life events counselling and mental health support. This is not only available to you but your direct family, too.

Follow the instructions on the flyer to start using it. I promise, it really is a great resource, especially during this challenging period.

Earth's Last Empire: The Final Game of Thrones (Paperback) by John Hagee
A book suggestion from Debbie - "This book is purely Religious/Christian and talks about biblical prophecy/apocalypse and Armageddon some of the stuff that catastrophic, end of world movies are made of. The scariest part is that I believe it!"
Sounds terrifying.

Call My Agent
Mark has been watching “Call my Agent” on Netflix – recommended to him by Daniel Williams originally, and he is already enjoying series 4!

Jana has most probably watched/listened to all the true crime and murder mystery programmes that the TV and internet has to offer. But she has requested suggestions from the masses, in the hopes that someone at Youth Music might be able to find a podcast or series that she hasn't yet come across...
(Unlikely, but there is always hope.)

So do your thing, team. The first person to suggest something that Jana hasn't seen, gets sent a box of chocolates from yours truly. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
Recipe's of the Week
Jana is loving Tabbouleh at the moment - the classic and delish Middle Eastern salad. I mean, look at it.

Kalisha made some sourdough buttermilk pancakes on the weekend, and she's not sure she can ever eat a regular pancake again.

Debbie's Dessert Island Songs
  1. DeBarge Family - Rhythm Of The Night – with this song, you can literally dance your cares away, everything bad fades away and you feel only joy and euphoria and of course passion.
  2. Madonna -  Holiday – I desperately can’t wait to go on holiday after this Covid-19 crisis, this song always inspires me
  3. Whitney Houston - I’m every woman – This is my song of empowerment, it makes me feel I can’t do anything and be anything
  4. Mary Mary – Heaven – As a strong believer in the afterlife, I think of my sister and look forward to Heaven.
Cristina's Desert Island Songs:
  1. Joan Baez - Diamonds & Rust - Sorry for bringing the tone down with this one, but it's possibly one of my favourite songs of all time, and my favourite to ugly cry to.
  2. Yazoo - Only You - Like, who doesn't love an 80's banger, that's my question? Nothing more to be said here.
  3. Dire Straits - Romeo & Juliet - Don't @ me, but this is beautiful and Mark Pierce can vouch for it.
  4. The Beatles - I've Just Seen a Face - Because, how can you not be cheerful when you listen to this song? And after listening to Joan Baez, you'll need a little pick me up.

Hannah got this lovely snap featured by newspaper Kent Online! #sidehustle
Question: Is it even a Youth Music newsletter without content of the feline OG?
Answer: It's not. So here is a pic of Diggers in a box. You're welcome.
That pout though.
For your dose of pup cuteness, here is a shutout to Albie.
Matt sent a collection of brilliant video content of Ablie frolicking on the beach with his bezzie, Millie. However, because we are newbies to this whole newsletter game, we haven't a clue how to upload.
So, this will have to do!
That's it from us! Happy Friday lovely people - here's to manifesting freedom.

Cristina & Debbie xx
