NBM Recap, Graphics Tools, & QR Codes

We just got back from the NBM Show in Long Beach, and we would like to thank everyone who stopped by our booth. We had such a great time, and are eagerly awaiting the next NBM Show January 9th â€“ 11th at it's new California location, the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Keep reading for a recap of our in-booth demonstrations at the NBM Show, information on graphics tools we stock, and a crash course on QR codes.

Video Recap

Rollsroller Flatbed Applicator Demonstration

Rollsroller Flatbed Applicator Demonstration at NBM
In preparation for the Rollsroller demonstration, we printed out a variety of superhero prints to mount on corrugated plastic boards to showcase the Rollsroller's speed and efficiency. If you aren’t familiar with the Rollsroller, it is a flatbed applicator that is designed for mounting self-adhesive films to substrates. It can also be used for the application of transfer tape to cut graphics, as well as applying taped, cut graphics to substrates and flex face materials.

Visitors were impressed at how easy the machine is to use, and how little time it took to mount bubble-free prints to substrates.

We encouraged visitors who have never used the machine to try it out for themselves, and their responses were astounding – they raved about how simple the Rollsroller is to use, and how flawless the mounting job was.  It was amazing to see how excited people became after mounting their own superhero prints with this machine.

David Rycyna, owner of CirrusLED and creator of the N2 modular LED Display, joined us in our booth and spent time discussing his modular LED display.

The N2 is a modular LED sign system that can be configured into any shape or size. The system is made up of LED panels and 12” x 12” frames that mate-and-lock with each other, allowing for unlimited display configurations.

One revolutionary feature of the system is it's cloud-based software, which allows you to create, edit, and schedule your display from any internet-connected device (including your tablet or Smartphone).

IEC is the exclusive distributor for the Cirrus N2 LED Display Systems in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah. Contact us today for more information.

Vandal Guard Demonstration & Giveaway

Vandal Guard Anti Graffiti Overlaminate Demonstration at NBM
Vandal Guard Anti Graffiti Overlaminate Prize Wheel at NBM
Katie, a representative from Vandal Guard, also joined us and did demonstrations of Vandal Guard’s Anti-Graffiti Overlaminate. This overlaminate protects signs and graphics from a wide variety of stains and chemicals, including paint and permanent marker. Graffiti can be easily wiped away without damaging the overlaminate.

We did a crossword puzzle and word search on material laminated with Vandal Guard, inviting visitors to our booth to play with us. When someone participated, they got to spin our prize wheel to win free IEC gear, and then were entered into our Vandal Guard giveaway. When we finished a game, we easily erased all of the answers and started a new one. We also had a realtor sign laminated with this material, and people had fun drawing mustaches and eyebrows on the realtor's photo.

Giveaway Winner

We’d like to congratulate Victor Kitibutr of LA Country Metro for being the winner of our Vandal Guard giveaway! He won a 54” x 100’ roll of Vandal Guard’s Anti-Graffiti/Dry Erase Overlaminate.

Unlimited Grafx Car Wrapping & Graphic Tools Demonstration

Car Wrap Demonstration at NBM
Car Wrap Demonstration at NBM
Rolando Rodriguez, owner of Unlimited Grafx, gave car wrap demonstrations using Avery, Arlon, and 3M vinyls. He gathered quite a crowd each time he started a demonstration.

During the car wrap demonstrations, Rolando used YelloTools brand graphic tools. He free-handed some very impressive-looking flames on the vinyl, and commented that by using the YelloTools Swivel Knife, which has a 180 degree swivel blade, he was able to cut the design much easier, since he didn’t have to lift and move the blade – he could just rotate it. If you are interested in ordering any YelloTools products, please call us at 1-800-CALL-IEC (225-5432).

How to scan a QR code
At IEC, we use QR (quick response) codes on everything. We have them on our business cards, on our literature and most other handouts. QR codes can store a wide range of information, such as website URLs, contact information, directions, etc. When done right, QR codes make accessing information much easier and more convenient.

We talk to people every day that say that they have heard of QR codes, but aren’t familiar/comfortable enough with them to actually scan one. So, we went ahead and made a short video tutorial to explain how to scan them.
