A message from Co-op Interim General Manager, Shawn Menard

A huge part of what makes the Co-op a great place is our membership.  As of this writing we have 479 proud member-owners.  I enjoy seeing our regular members each week and also seeing new members sign up. I have had discussions with many of you about the benefits of becoming a member-owner at the Co-op.  Part of what that means is that you own and are partially responsible for the success of the Co-op.  Your initial investment directly helps the Co-op by funding our operations during the opening period. Beyond the initial investment, we rely primarily on our members for additional support by way of regularly shopping at the Co-op.  We have also just launched our Member-Owner Loan Program (MOLP). This is by far the best way to help support the Co-op during the opening phase.  Members, you will be receiving additional content regarding the MOLP soon.  If you have any questions or are interested in making a loan to the Co-op please email me at
Another part of being a member-owner is receiving benefits or discounts.  We are happy to announce that we will be starting Member Mondays. Every Monday, starting December 7th, members will receive 5% off their entire purchase (excluding alcohol, gift certificates, and membership payments).  It can be difficult for small and young Co-ops to offer discounts before they become well established and profitable, but we feel that this is a great way for us to give you a more meaningful and regular discount.  We also have some wonderful reusable shopping bags made from recycled materials that have the Gardiner Food Co-op logo printed on them.  These bags were made and donated by one of our proud member-owners.  Any member with a $100 order will receive one of these amazing bags!
Thanks for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
