Starting on May 31st, the Co-op will be in soft opening mode, we hope you will come shop!
Want the Co-op win a $25,000 GRANT?! All we need is for you all to vote, everyday until June 3rd. Read on...
We reached our goal
Thank you all for becoming Member-Owners of the Co-op, we have reached our 360 member goal!
Hello Friends and Member-Owners of the Co-op,
A few months ago the Gardiner Food Co-op & Café applied to the StateFarm NeighborhoodAssist program, along with 4000 other projects across the Nation. Well, the Co-op is now one of the top 200 finalists (and the only selected project in Maine!) and our cause could win one of 40 grants of $25,000. We need you to rally behind our cause, cast your votes and help us win $25,000 to support our education and outreach programs! Here’s how: https://www.state-assist.com/cause/1500506/gardiner-food-co-op If necessary, give the application permissions (you’ll only have to do this once), then click on the “Vote” button to show your support for the Co-op!
The voting phase is open now until June 3 and you cast up to 10 votes per dayEVERYDAY for our cause (which can be done in just one click). Winner announcements are June 16. Please forward this to all your colleagues, friends and family to vote and help spread the word on Facebook!
Great ideas for easily remembering to vote everyday: Why not set the voting page as your homepage for the three weeks of voting? Or put it on calendar as a daily reminder in the morning until June 3rd? That way you can easily remember to vote, and we can send fewer emails! The address again is: https://www.state-assist.com/cause/1500506/gardiner-food-co-op
Thanks in advance for your support, and looking forward to seeing you at the Co-op soon!

Have you heard? The Co-op had a wonderful turn out at our Earth Day event, more than 100 people came through the future Co-op space on April 22, shared some good conversations, and it was on that night that we succeeded in reaching our membership goal of 360! Congratulations to everyone, and thank you so much for your support.
We also want to thank you all for your patience and dedication as this project has unfolded. Some of you may have waited a bit too long for your membership acknowledgements to arrive in the mail (and if you haven't received one yet, we promise that it is in the mail today!). This project is very much member and volunteer driven, which sometimes can take more time, but we are so excited about everything that has been accomplished by all of our volunteers and we encourage you to get involved: it's YOUR co-op!
If you've taken a stroll down Water street lately you probably noticed that the Co-op is almost ready to open. In fact, we will be starting our soft opening period May 31st, and we really hope you will come in and shop, spend some time at the café, come meet the staff and volunteers, and tell us what you think, and what you'd like to see more of.
We will be announcing our Grand Opening a little later in June. This soft opening period is a great way for us all to test out the Co-op together before we tell the entire community to come check it out! We hope to see you all there ;).

Local Roots -
Supporting Local Businesses
The Gardiner Food Co-op & Café is pleased to highlight its best kept secret, the Local Roots - Local Business Partner Program - linking our members to some of the fantastic local businesses in the Greater Gardiner Area. The businesses featured in this program have agreed to offer members of GFCC a discount or special promotion. Please feel free to take advantage of these offers by some of our fine partners, and remember to shop local!
