Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

May the Power of The Holy Spirit strengthen you with love, joy, peace and courage as you fulfill your God given purpose. While our hearts, minds and bodies align with The King of Kings, let us bare witness to great and mighty things. We truly appreciate your generosity and commitment through out 2018. Press ahead into 2019 believing by faith, that greater is yet to come for our foster children here in Orange County.

Proverbs 13:12 (NIV) Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
Millions of people each year make a New Year’s resolution: A desire for something to be different in the New Year - a hope for true happiness and a better version of themselves. It is a wonderful concept to sit back and reflect on the good and the bad of the previous year with the hope for change to come in the New Year; however, what happens when those hopes are not fulfilled?
I love the point Paul makes in Philippians 4:10-13 King James Version (KJV)
10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

In this passage, Paul acknowledges his human needs and desires, yet recognizes the one who holds his future and is content even if he does not get what he wants. We all have great God given desires, personal goals and wants; however, our perspective changes when we take the focus off our desires and look to the one who created us. Our outlook begins to change and our hearts truly become content even if the desire is not filled.  We trust that God is faithful, willing, and able to supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
I wasted many years trying to make things happen on my own and lost sight of the beautiful journey the Lord had me on. There is an old Hannah Montana song called “The Climb.” I bought the Hanna Montana sound track for my daughter. It quickly became the CD we listened to everyday. I would play “The Climb” over and over and my daughter would beg me to change it. The song ministered to my heart and the lyrics alone made me cry:

I can almost see it that dream I’m dreaming.
There’s a voice inside my head saying you’ll never reach it!
Every step I’m taking, every move I make feels lost with no direction
My faith is shaking, but I-I got to keep trying got to keep my head held high Always going be another mountain, always gonna wanna make it move, Always gonna be an uphill battle sometimes I’m gonna have to lose.
Ain’t about how fast I get there, ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side It’s the climb
There was a dream burning in my heart- I leaned on my own understanding and believed the fulfillment of that dream rested upon me. It was exhausting.  I am forever grateful the Lord got a hold of me and caused me to rest and just enjoy “The Climb”!

King James Bible Isaiah 43:19 (KJV)
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
God is on the move,

Ana Martinez
