David Weiss & Point of Departure to release new CD "Wake Up Call" February 17 on Ropeadope.
Point of Departure
has signed a deal with Ropeadope Records and will release their first CD for the label (and the band's 4th) on February 17. Ropeadope is a label that is putting out some of the most exciting, cutting edge music being released today and is also at the forefront of finding innovative ways to get the music out into this digital, streaming world we now live in. We are really looking forward to this collaboration.
The new CD features material from the late '60s and early '70s, continuing our quest to further explore and redefine the music from that turbulent era. We recorded tunes by Tony Williams Lifetime, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Charles Moore, Kenny Cox, Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson and the Brazilian avant-garde/fusion group Grupo Um.
essentially features two incarnations of the band. There a few tracks with most of the original band, J.D. Allen- Tenor Sax, Nir Felder and Ben Eunson- Guitar, Matt Clohesy- Bass and Kush Abadey- Drums. The bulk of the CD is given over to the new revamped version of the group that features Myron Walden- Tenor Sax, Ben Eunson and Travis Reuter- Guitar, Matt Clohesy- Bass and Kush Abadey- Drums.
The CD is now available for pre-order. If you pre-order the CD, you will get two tracks that you can download instantly ahead of the February 17 release date. You can order it from iTunes here
or from Bandcamp here
You can also preview a track from the new CD (the Wayne Shorter composition "Two Faced") on the homepage of my new web-site
or on youtube
We will also be announcing a number of tour dates soon. I will keep you posted of course.
