Family-friendly, FREE and full of surprises, don't miss the 12th Annual Sustainable Ballard Festival! Check out the full schedule here and read on for all the highlights...

Lend a Hand...Volunteer!

The Festival is part community building, part education, part fundraiser and part party!! There are many ways you can help out and be part of this exciting event. It’s a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and other Sustainable Ballard members. Sign up now...great shifts are still available!

View a Tiny House!

Thanks to a generous sponsorship from The CoHo Team of Windermere Agents, we will have a tiny house at the Festival for attendees to see and walk through, along with a graphic showing how much money has been raised for our Tiny House Fundraising Campaign. Check it out!

Get your FREE Chinook Book!

Starting at 11 a.m., the first 120 Festival attendees at the Chinook Book table (at the Learning Station) will receive a free 2016 Chinook Book (print edition) compliments of Swansons Nursery.

Enjoy Music and Food!

On the Festival's music stage: Ricky Gene Powell, Hot Cider String Band (pictured), Sustainable Brain: BrainDance for Everybody, Charlie and the Rays and Steven Curtis.

Food trucks: Streetzeria Fine Street Pizza, Biscuit Box, Beez Neez Gourmet Sausages, Plum 100% Vegan Burgers and Convoy Coffee.

Build a Bird House with Built Green!

We’ve pre-cut the plastic from no-longer-needed yard signs, and we’ll have hole punches and zipties on hand to pull them together, so all is ready for you to assemble your own bird house! Visit the Built Green booth during the Festival and build a home for some feathered friends.

Walk in the All Ages Ped & Pet Parade!

This colorful parade allows Festival-goers to decorate themselves and their pets to show their sustainable spirit during the Festival! Seattle ReCreative and Ballard ReUse will provide the (otherwise landfill) decorating materials, or participants and their pets can join the parade pre-decorated (using re-used materials only).

Participate in the Raffle!

Thanks to a generous donation from Electric and Folding Bikes NW, we’ll be raffling off a Giant Twist Freedom DX electric bike (retail price $2,250)! Also on the raffle prize list: gift certificates to Ethan Stowell Restaurants, Peddler Brewing, Kangaroo & Kiwi, Mr. Gyros, yoga classes, and much more! Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

Learn to Skateboard!

Skate Like a Girl will be running four FREE 30-minute co-ed clinics during the Festival, as well as providing boards and protective gear. All ages and abilities encouraged! Register early — each clinic is limited to 10 participants.

Visit our Tea Garden!

Step into the world of “Alice in Wonderland” in our very own Tea Garden. Sponsored by Miro Tea, Festival-goers will enjoy tea samples paired with delicious dessert bites from Ballard shops. Just $5 for four samples plus a tea cup!

Watch Bubbleman!

Join Bubbleman at 1:00 pm for an entertaining hour of bubble magic during the Festival, then learn to make your own bubble wand with six-pack rings.

Relax in the Spiritual Community Space

Weave a respite of silence into your festival day. Visit the Spiritual Community Space, sponsored by Interfaith Community Sanctuary, where we will share songs, chants, prayers and thoughts about “What is Sustainable Spirituality” … all in a gentle tranquil space.

We're Reducing our Carbon Footprint

The Sustainable Ballard Festival is fun, educational and inspirational! And we do our best to make it sustainable, but with cars, delivery trucks, and even some generator, we still use carbon. To bring us all the way to carbon neutral, we're partnering with Forterra and their Evergreen Carbon Capture Program.

Near the Festival - Electronics Recycling

On your way to the Festival, drop off your old computers, tablets, laptops, printers, peripherals, monitors, TVs, hard drives and cellphones at this electronics recycling event. 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m., in the parking lot at Leif Erikson Lodge. Hosted by the Catherine for District 6 campaign.
