Saturday, August 27    11 a.m. to 4 p.m.    Ballard Commons Park

Eclectic, artsy, earthy, urban and committed to a better future... you’ll find all this and more at the 13th Annual Sustainable Ballard Festival.  We'll bring you more features and updates next week!

Join the "in" crowd...Volunteer!

Sustainable Ballard invites you to join your neighbors in volunteering at this amazing event. The festival is our big event of the year! Part community builder, part educational, part fundraiser, part party -- all FUN!! There are many ways you can help out and participate in this exciting event. Sign up now...great shifts are still available!

Get your Raffle Ticket!

Thanks to a generous donation from Electric and Folding Bikes NW, we’ll be raffling off a Raleigh Venture IE electric bike (retail price $2,400) and from Slab Art Studios, a Life Edge Walnut Side Table (retail price $550)! Also on the raffle prize list: gifts from Ballard Liquor Co, Peddler Brewing, Shakti Yoga, Divine Spine, Trilogy Chiropractic (massage!), Beecher's Cheese and more!

Raffle tickets are just $5 each and you don't have to be present to win the bike or the table, so even if you can't attend the festival, you can support Sustainable Ballard by purchasing a raffle ticket!

Build a Bird House with Built Green!

We’ve pre-cut the plastic from no-longer-needed yard signs, and we’ll have hole punches and zipties on hand to pull them together, so all is ready for you to assemble your own bird house! Visit the Built Green booth during the Festival and build a home for some feathered friends.

Walk or Ride in the Parkways Parade!

Stop by the Family Bike Expo and decorate your bike (or person) or pick up a Petit Troll float at the parade start point. Then join Kidical Mass on this 1.3 mile loop route through old Ballard and back to the park. Seattle ReCreative and Sustainable Ballard will provide the (otherwise landfill) decorating materials, or participants can join the parade pre-decorated (see details for work parties).

Learn to Skateboard!

Skate Like a Girl will be running three FREE 30-minute co-ed clinics during the Festival, as well as providing boards and protective gear. All ages and abilities encouraged! Register early — each clinic is limited to 10 participants.

Watch Bubbleman!

Join Bubbleman at 2:00 pm for an entertaining hour of bubble magic during the Festival, then learn to make your own bubble wand with six-pack rings.

Make a Batik Unity Flag!

Join Love Wins Love at the Festival and help them make batik flags to decorate the Tent City encampment on Market Street. You can help reweave our community and inspire ideas for real solutions to homelessness.

Ride a PRONTO bicycle for FREE!

Start your day at the Sustainable Ballard Festival or at Bergen Place, check outout a Pronto bike for a few hours, then wheel around the Seattle Summer Parkways route, ending up back at the Festival or Bergen Park to return your bike.  This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the Pronto experience for FREE.

Ballard Tool Library!

Test your tool knowledge, get help with a quick repair and find out more about progress on bringing a tool library to the neighborhood -- all at the Ballard Tool Library booth @ the FESTIVAL!
