Free Letters Home could use a couple hours of your time

Free Letters Home helps to reconnect people who experience homelessness with their loved ones. We’re hoping to set up at Nyer Urness House on Tuesday, November 17, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., if we can find one or two volunteers to help.


'Menu for the Future' discussion group forming - a few spaces left!

We’re sponsoring a discussion group of the Northwest Earth Institute course "Menu for the Future: Food and Sustainability", and a few spots are still open! The group will meet on six Mondays at 7:30 p.m. starting in January.


Take the Pedestrian Master Plan Update Survey

The Pedestrian Master Plan seeks to funnel pedestrian improvements -- such as new sidewalks, curb ramps, crosswalks and more -- to areas of the city with the greatest need. The Seattle DOT needs your input on the types of pedestrian improvements you think are most important.


Save the Date! Holiday Barter Fair - December 6

A Sustainable Ballard tradition returns! Our annual Holiday Party and Barter Fair will be held on Sunday, December 6, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Ballard Oddfellows Hall.

Cascadia Climate Action aggregates all upcoming climate events into a one-stop-shop calendar that makes it easy to find something that fits your time and interests. From family-friendly festivals and climate science talks to planning meetings, marches, and agency hearings, there is something for everyone.  


Nearly two tiny houses funded -- let's keep going!

Nickelsville-Ballard will be here soon! Five or more tiny homes will be located on the Market Street encampment site, and we’ve raised $3,650 to date -- enough to build one house and two-thirds of another. Please donate today to help provide safe structures for people currently living in tents.

City Fruit's 5th Annual Cider Taste Fundraiser - November 12

Tickets are limited and must be purchased online. All tickets include one event passport, souvenir glass, tastes from 10 Northwest cidermakers, and small plates from local chefs. Thursday, November 12 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.


Tim Flannery: "Searching for Solutions to the Climate Crisis" - November 12

Australian scientist (and returning Town Hall favorite) Tim Flannery will discuss the ramifications of our changed environment and offer a call to action for protecting Earth (and humanity’s) future. Thursday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m.


21 Acres Class: Bring on the Bugs! - November 14

Bees, butterflies, and other insects support more than 85% of the world’s flowering plants. Join us to learn how to identify these beneficial insects and how to design your property to attract them. Saturday, November 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.


Groundswell NW work party at Ballard Corners - November 14

Join Groundswell NW for a work party at Ballard Corners Park (17th Ave NW & NW 63rd Street). We’ll be weeding, pruning, and cleaning up debris. Please come lend a hand and give our neighborhood gem some TLC! Saturday, November 14, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., rain or shine.


Ballard Urban Design and Transportation Open House - November 18

Rescheduled from the original date of October 21. Learn what we heard from the community and share your comments on draft transportation priorities, including high capacity transit and urban design recommendations. Wednesday, November 18 at 6:00 p.m.
