Greetings Daily Groceries Co-op community,

For my first GM Update in the Staff Newsletter, I mostly just want to say thank you to everyone. I already feel so at home at Daily, and appreciate people reaching out to me, training me, teaching me, and helping me as I adjust to a new place and position. I’m so excited about the team we have here, and all the possibility there is going forward for Daily to grow, and to be a vital part of the Athens community.
To continue the thanks—thanks to everyone who came to the Board Meeting last Tuesday. The Annual Member Meeting and Board Elections are coming up on October 18th, so this is a great time to get involved in the democratic processes of a co-op. After all the busyness in October, Human Resources and I plan on having a new Employee Survey, one where we hope to gauge not only worker satisfaction, but also have people rank the importance of certain benefits, as we attempt to develop our benefits package for employees.
Aside from Daily operations, we are entering one of my favorite times of year: fall. (We’ll see when the temperatures actually start to drop…) As much as I love summer, I also crave the coziness of fall—the way everyone begins to slow down; the sublime changing of the leaves. It is a time of intense emotion, as all the living things around us give their last gasp before going dormant for the winter.
At Daily, the changing of the seasons is also a great time to refresh our physical space, our outlook, and our practices. I hope to spend some one-on-one time with each of you in the coming weeks, to get your personal take on Daily, your place in it, and where you think it can go in the future. Let’s take care of ourselves, and take care of our community.
