We thank President Obama for his immigration policy change. However, we are still waiting for the Dream Act to pass.
Forida Voices for Immigration Reform (FVIR)
Florida Voices for Immigration Reform thanks President Obama for his policy change on stopping the deportation of undocumented immigrants students who were brought to the U.S. by their parents when they were children.  The policy change which goes into effect immediately provides relief to 800,000 immigrant students who have been waiting for Dream Act legislation to be passed. With the issuance of a work permit students will be able to work and pay for their education becoming productive taxpayers of our country.

Although this policy change provides immediate relief for 800,000 immigrant students and prevents them from being deported, it does not prevent their parents from being deported, resulting in families still being torn apart.  We urge Congress to continue to work in a bipartisan way to pass Dream Act type legislation and sensible immigration reform for the 11 million undocumented immigrants that reside in our country.
