We attend Qualsafe event

this month, and as a registered Qualsafe Centre, we attended a conference on 'The Future of First Aid'.

Along with other first aid trainers and medical professionals the team heard talks on critical peadiatric care, diabetic emergencies, heart attacks and catastrophic haemorrhaging. We also watched this amazing footage of live CRP and defibrillation.

Attending the event is yet another way of demonstrating our commitment to helping people deliver the best standards of care in a medical emergency.
We are proud to be accredited:

HSE announces changes

Two revisited health and safety regulations took effect at the beginning of October:
  • First Aid - now amended to remove the requirement for HSE to approve training and qualifications
  • RIDDOR - reporting and data collection requirements have been simplified
These are important legislative changes that could help you more easily comply with the law, and you can read full details on the HSE website.

In the news

CPR in schools

Outside of hospitals 60,000 people a year suffer a cardiac arrest. Depending on the region between 2 and 12% survive at present, but trials focusing on CPR techniques are being taught in schools and in public around the world to show that these survival rates can be over 50%.

In Seattle CPR is taught in school PE lessons and as a result the survival rate in that area is 56%. Click here to see the BHF CPR app for your phone, which allows you to practice hard and fast chest compressions.

Flu Vaccine

What is your policy on flu vaccine? Recently a local county council took the decision to spend £10,000 vaccinating their entire staff*. This may have been because there has been a change in the strain and testing has started later than scheduled.
