Marty's Message

As you may have read in the MOD or heard around campus, UWSP is set to launch the public phase of our first comprehensive capital campaign–Then, Now and Forever–with a goal of raising $30 million by June 30, 2019.

The campaign started in 2013 in what is known as the “quiet phase.” In three years, more than $17 million has been raised for initiatives and programs that support student achievement, innovate and develop new programs, and strengthen the partnerships between the university and our communities. The campaign has brought opportunity specifically to the College of Professional Studies that simply would not be possible without private dollars. For example:

 • a $1 million endowed scholarship (largest scholarship on campus) in the School of Business and Economics, which has the potential of awarding as many as 40 scholarships per year
 • 10 new endowed scholarships throughout the College of Professional Studies
 • three new program support endowments for such things as community outreach, professional development, student organizations and program innovation
 • a $4 million dollar gift from Sentry Insurance, allowing the College of Professional Studies and the College of Letters and Science to collaboratively develop a new major in data analytics
 • a commitment from capital campaign chair Lon Roberts and his wife Mary to provide a deferred estate gift sufficient to endow a faculty position on the College of Professional Studies.

Going forward, the public phase of the campaign will give our college many more opportunities to seek gifts that support student internships, study abroad, program and technology innovations, professional development and instructional support.

It is gratifying to know that our alumni and friends believe in what we are doing enough to make investments that have lasting impact on our students and the region. In this regard, my job is easy. CPS has a clear vision and outstanding programs and students. Whether in education, health, business or the environment, a gift to the College of Professional Studies can make a major impact.

Marty Loy,
Dean
