CPS Teaching Partners program kicks off 19th year

Teaching PartnersTeaching Partners is a College of Professional Studies program in which faculty and teaching academic staff are paired and asked to begin a discussion about teaching and learning. With the assistance of their partner, they learn a process to help begin critically evaluating their own teaching practices. Partners are paired across disciplines to give them an opportunity to meet colleagues in a field outside of their own and to be exposed to new teaching perspectives. Read More

Marty's Message

If you attended the UWSP Teaching Conference last week, I'm sure that you were as proud as I was of our college. CPS faculty and staff made up the majority of who attended and presented. In one session where emeriti deans were asked to share their insights, our own Joan North described the struggles and advances of academic life as a “spiral up” where even when confronted with setbacks and budget cuts, we are improving and advancing.
How do we know that we are spiraling up and not going the other direction? Here's how:
• As each budget cut has been announced, we have seen little hand wringing and a great deal of creative and innovative solution generating
• If you walk our halls, you will see teaching and learning spilling out of every classroom and faculty-student engagement happening
• If you attended the UWSP Teaching Conference, you saw that CPS faculty were heavily involved, not only in attending, but in the planning and presenting as well
• Eight faculty kicked off the new year of CPS Teaching Partners, committing themselves to a year of intensive work on their teaching.

There are many more examples, but these few certainly show that our spiral continues in the right direction. Good luck on the start of the new semester and on continuing our assent.
