Marty's Message

It is quiet around here today.

We all survived finals week and commencement, and now we officially start interim session, the two-week period between the end of the spring semester and the start of summer school. Sure, there are study abroad groups leaving and classes still happening, but the pace has slowed.

Our faculty members are quietly sitting at their desks scoring exams, reading papers and grading final projects. Kim is scrubbing clean the CPS Café kitchen. Frank and Doreen are busy putting down a fresh coat of wax on the hallway floor. Jackie is finishing up contracts.

Folks from outside of the university often view this period as “time off.” We see it as time to reflect, catch up on paperwork, and begin planning for of our next semester.

Marty Loy,
Dean
