CPS Summer Construction Update

ConstructionPlease excuse our dust this summer as multiple construction updates take place in the CPS Building. Other than the lecture hall remodel (state project #14E1Y), all the remaining work is a result of the Energy Bond Fund program (aka McKinstry Project). Faculty and staff can check their email from Marty on May 18 or contact us with any questions!

Marty's Message

One of my favorite moments during commencement is when two alumni welcome our graduates as alumni themselves. They ask our graduates to stand and place a UW-Stevens Point lapel pin on the graduate standing next to them. It is fun to be on stage and hear the buzz of the crowd as they exchange their pins.

It is typically a married couple, both Pointer alumni who lead this “pinning ceremony.” This year, the morning pinning was led by Ken ’68 and Sandy '69 Falkinham and the afternoon by Dennis ’78 and Sharon '78 Peterson. Sandy (elementary education) and Sharon (physical education-health promotion) are graduates of our College of Professional Studies. Both couples have been active alumni and have remained good friends of UWSP.

Ken, Sandy, Dennis and Sharon are also exceptional examples for our students of how to take the degree that they have earned and put it to good use helping other people and strengthening their communities.

Thank you to our alumni, and congratulations to our graduates!

Marty Loy,
Dean
