The College of Professional Studies Teaching Partners program will be offering a monthly CPS Café Chat for faculty and staff to get together and talk about teaching. Each chat will offer a short presentation, followed by informal conversation about the topic of the day. Please take this survey to help identify topics, times and days that would be of interest.
Students to compete in financial research challenge
Four UW-Stevens Point School of Business & Economics students will present their company financial analysis of Joy Global, Inc. at the local finals of this year’s CFA Institute Research Challenge on Thursday, Feb. 23 in Madison. UWSP seniors Chase Sellnow, Kevin Klement, Tyler Crawley and Max Trzebiatowski have spent 20 hours a week since November researching Joy Global, a worldwide leader in high-productivity mining solutions based in Milwaukee, to prepare for the competition. Poverty simulation teaches lessons to future teacher
As part of the Okray Colloquium, future teachers participated in a two-hour hands-on simulation designed to help them better understand what it's like to live in poverty. CAP Services facilitated a poverty simulation for students in UWSP's School of Education on February 15. The discussion that followed included some strategies the soon-to-be teachers can use to better understand, serve and engage students and parents who are struggling financially. Photo Gallery
Exploring career options for Interior Architecture specialties
Sometimes students are left to wonder what they can do with a particular major. Third- and fourth-year interior architecture students in Professor Wendy Redeker’s IA 395 (Professional Practice) class were fortunate to explore future careers through research papers focused on “Career Options for Interior Architecture Specialties” during the fall 2011 semester. Professors Scott Wallace and Barb Mihm recently received notification that one of their papers, “Coordination Costs and Firm Boundaries: A Tale of Two Supply Chains in the Apparel Industry,” will be published in the Journal of Management Policy and Practice in volume 13(3), fall 2012.
