Announcing the new CPS website and blog
The new CPS website
launched last week as a part of a university-wide initiative. With the new design, each unit in the CPS shares a consistent look with universal navigation and improved browsing experience for prospective students, as well as for current students, parents, alumni, friends, faculty, and staff.
In addition to the new design, the college also launched CPS Connection Point, a blog that features news, photos, videos and social media. Faculty and student bloggers will be added to the content as the school year begins. Those interested in contributing as a guest blogger, please email email@example.com.
Participants present ePortfolio plans
ePortfolio is a student-centered platform which faculty, departments, and institutions can create portfolio assignments linked to scoring rubrics, while assessment committees can randomly select portfolios, score them with rubrics, and generate assessment reports. UWSP's intrepid participants in two workshops earlier this summer presented their plans for using ePortfolio on August 24-25, including CPS faculty and staff: Catherine Scheder, Corey Huck, Katja Marquart, Pat Marinac, Kathy Julin, Pat Marinac, Donna Zimmerman, Nisha Fernando and Kelly Schoonaert
SMART Board training workshops
School of Education Assistant Professor Jeff Boyer led two SMART Board training workshops on Monday, August 22. Twelve individuals participated in the SMART Board Basics workshop, while five people attended the SMART Board Refresher workshop. Thank you to all who attended. If you missed this opportunity, don't worry as Jeff will hold another training later this semester. Watch for details.
Montgomery Q&A in Stevens Point Journal
New UW-Stevens Point Director of Athletics Daron Montgomery sat down with Scott Williams of the Stevens Point Journal
for a Q&A session
after a few weeks on the job to talk about his background and his vision for UWSP Athletics.
SIASEFIs reunite for annual gathering
The founding members of the UW-Stevens Point SIASEFIs
gathered in Northern Wisconsin for their annual reunion on Wednesday, August 24. The SIASEFIs officially became a recognized student group at UWSP in the early 1950s and have been getting together at various locations around the country ever since.
CPS Building update
We recently discovered our elevator has issues that we need to repair. The state expedited our approval and within days our facilities services contracted the repairs so that we could have the work done prior to the start of school. Unfortunately, because of the scope of the project, the elevator will not be useable until September 2. CPS 014 and CPS 109 are available as temporary offices for faculty or students to work and to meet.
