Marty's Message

Fall classes are in full swing and the leaves are turning, which means Homecoming is just around the corner—October 20, to be exact. As always, there are many activities planned for the entire week, and many of those events have ties to our own College of Professional Studies.

Many of our CPS alumni will attend the Tent City and the All Campus Picnic (10 a.m., Student Recreation Fields) on their way to the football game against UW-Eau Claire (1 p.m., Goerke Park). In the evening we will honor past student-athletes and friends of UWSP Athletics at the Hall of Fame Banquet (4:30 p.m., Laird Room DUC), including the induction of retired CPS staff member and athletic director Frank O’Brien. We will also honor one outstanding alum from each college at our annual Alumni Awards Banquet (6 p.m., Alumni Room, DUC). This year’s honoree as Distinguished Alumnus of the College of Professional Studies is Laura Nelson ’87.

You can read more about Laura and each of the upcoming homecoming activities in this week’s Monday Message. I hope you take time to enjoy the fall colors and the excitement of Homecoming.

Marty Loy,
Dean CP
