Marty's Message

Several universities are said to have invented Homecoming, however most experts credit the University of Missouri who in 1911, invited alumni to attend a football game and celebrate with a campus parade.

You might find it interesting that UW-Stevens Point’s first homecoming happened in 1922. On that fall day 93 years ago, we lost the game to Milwaukee Normal School; however, according to The Pointer newspaper, we hosted the "peppiest prep-meeting and snakiest snake-dance in the history of the city."

Although the 2015 homecoming did not include a snaky snake-dance, we held a nice parade, inducted a new class into the Athletics Hall of Fame, our football team defeated UW-Eau Claire 38-28 and we celebrated several highly accomplished alumni

Two of those alumni are from the College of Professional Studies: Admiral Steve Day and Tracie Roberson. Be sure to read about these two successful CPS alumni–they will impress you.
