Israel was afraid of the giants in the Promised Land. Therefore they refused to fight and were left to wander in the wilderness. I believe the church has been in a "wilderness" since 1973 (maybe even before that, but for sure since 1973 when a giant called abortion was left to live).
Although statistics show more Americans today consider themselves Christian than ever before, yet the condition of our culture, the alarming number of youth leaving the church, and the irrelevance of biblical faith in America show that we have been a "spiritual wilderness" in the church. Unfortunately, we are reaping the consequences of our unfaithfulness.
This year marks 40 years since Roe vs. Wade. Will a new generation of God's people dare to cross this Jordan and fight? I say yes!
1 Samuel 17:16 - For 40 days the Philistine came forward every morning and evening and took his stand.
The one man anointed by God to fight His enemies was Saul, the king. Yet while the giant taunted, the leader of God's people - Saul - sat quietly in his tent...away from the battle. But God sent David, who had ears to hear the taunts of the giant and was willing to run toward the roar. Then and only then did victory come to the people of God.
As Goliath taunted for 40 days while the armies of the Living God hid themselves, abortion stands taunting the Church of the Living God while God's men hide. Will young David's run to the roar and rise to fight the giant of our time?
It's time we quit singing and praying about a mighty move of God in our midst and start fighting God's battles. We stand at the crossroads of a decision in the church: will we wander another 40 years in the wilderness or will we cross the Jordan and fight? Will we stay hidden in our tents for 40 days or will we take on this giant and and defeat him?
2013 MUST be the year when the Church of the Living God hears the battle cry and answers the call. We have the only weapon that can defeat this enemy, the Truth of God's word. We have the only hope for those caught in the giant's fist, the merciful blood of Jesus. It is time we stand up for those that cannot stand for themselves. It is time we "break the jaw of the wicked and snatch the prey from his teeth." (Job 29:17)
