I recently attended a fascinating acupuncture seminar. The speaker talked about how acupuncture works by stimulating the nervous system. This reduces pain and increases organ function to make the body work better. In the next couple of months I will write further about that and give you an easy-to-understand explanation of what we are doing when you come here. In the meantime…
Fire Relief Herbs
We are in a fire season unlike any I have seen in my 23 years here in the Rogue Valley. It’s nice that we have gotten a respite from that intense period of smoke, but, they say, more may be on the way. Below I have some herbal suggestions for issues that can be caused by the smoke and air quality.
If you have lung or sinus issues, be careful when you are outside. I have herbs at the office that I am pulling out for a couple of common conditions. Magnolia Flower is good for clearing the sinuses.
Corydalin is helpful for headaches. And perhaps the best formula right now is Jade Wind Screen. Jade Wind Screen in Lung protective. This formula contains Astragalus which is known to support the immune system and has a very sweet flavor. I will make up a big batch of that this week.
Although I love my work, every now and then I need to take a break. To that end, I will be away the first two weeks of September. My wife, Joanna, and I are going on a pilgrimage walk on the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain. It is very popular trip these days, due to the movie “The Way,” starring Martin Sheen. We are hoping to walk about 180 miles. I look forward to working with you after this rejuvenating sojourn.
When I return, I will be offering a special of five visits for $99. I find that acupuncture is more effective when patients come in for several visits, rather than just one or two, so I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.
See you in mid-September!
