We Are Returning To Sea!

Our family is about to make a big transition back to ship life!  In July, we will join the crew of the Africa Mercy.  Our first stop will be the Canary Islands and from there we will set sail to Cameroon, West Africa.  Please pray for us!  Warrie and I are excited to return to ship life after 10 years at the office in Texas.  For the girls, this will be the biggest life change they have ever experienced.  We welcome your prayers for us as a family during this season of transition.

Warrie appointed as Managing Director of the Africa Mercy

In February, Warrie was appointed as the next Managing Director of the Africa Mercy.  The Managing Director is Mercy Ships senior executive leader onboard the vessel.  Over the past 22 years in the organization, we believe the Lord has been uniquely preparing Warrie with relationships, experience and knowledge for this responsibility.  We will move to the ship in July.  We welcome your prayers for wisdom, discernment and grace for her as she begins to lead the 400+ crew and monitors the effectiveness of our programs in Africa.  We are also asking the Lord to help us balance the needs of our family as Warrie takes on this huge new responsibility. I am prepared to shift into a different level of parenting support for the girls during this season.

What is Brian doing?

Over all my years in Mercy Ships, I have always been involved with our ship school. My heart's desire is to serve our crew families.  After serving as an elementary school teacher for eight years, the school principal for two years, and ten years focusing on school accreditation, I am excited about working in the field again.  I will continue support the ship school while looking after the needs of Addison and Alyssa when Warrie is working.

Addison & Alyssa enroll in the Academy!

Addison and Alyssa are about to turn nine years old and will be starting fourth grade in the fall.  They have excelled in our local public school and have had a solid foundational school experience - with great teachers, sweet friends and wonderful memories.  Following third grade, all students in our district change campuses for fourth grade.  In our case, the upcoming "change of campus" will be a little more dramatic than the other students', but we are excited to enroll them in Brian's fantastic Academy program.  They will be two of about 41 students in the Academy starting in August!  Please do pray for them in this transition - that their hearts would be protected as we say farewell to our home and East Texas "family" for this season - and that their hearts would be OPENED TO and EMBRACE the citizens and cultures of the great big world that they will discover on the other side of the globe.

Benin Update

The Africa Mercy has been serving the people of Benin since August of 2016 and continue there until June.  Here are some statistics of what Mercy Ships is doing in Benin.  Please continue to pray for the people of Benin and the crew of the Africa Mercy as they approach the end of this field service.

Cameroon - August 2017

Starting in August 2017, the Africa Mercy will be serving the country of Cameroon. No Mercy Ship has visited this country before!  Please pray for the many details involved in bringing in our ship to this new country.  Here is some information about Cameroon!

Jocelin suffered from a rapidly growing tumor on his face that caused him to hide his face in shame. Local doctors offered to try to help—but at an enormous cost that the family could never afford. So Jocelin’s father, Jean Paul, began praying for a miracle.
