A message from our Co-Founder, Bill Wilkins:
"I want to share with you the exciting news of this year's special Polo for Parkinson's personalities! As always, there will be a fun "Ladies' Hat Contest" at halftime, right after the champagne divot stomp. First, I'd like to tell you a little bit about our judges."

Dr. Karen Jaffe is a serial hat wearer in her many roles as a person with Parkinson’s and an advocate in the Parkinson’s community. From cloches to surgical head covers and berets she has done it all – Co-founded Shaking With Laughter with husband Marc (She’s Shaking, He’s Laughter), co-founded InMotion, a wellness center in Cleveland for people with PD, serves on the Patient Advisory Council of the Michael J. Fox Foundation and of course spends her winters judging hat contests around the world.

Marc Jaffe has worn many hats throughout a long career as a writer and comedian. He wore bowlers as a writer for Seinfeld, and a Homburg while composing his popular book, "Sleeping With Your Gynecologist, Tales from my Marriage to an OB/GYN". He wears a stovepipe hat as the co-founder of Shaking With Laughter, a non-profit in Cleveland, Ohio, dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease, which has raised over $700,000 through events with an element of humor. He has vowed to take off his stovepipe while judging so as not to block the view of those behind him.

Dr. Thomas Wichmann admits that his experience in headpieces may be somewhat limited, but we all know that someone this smart will cast an educated vote. Dr. Wichmann joined the Neurology faculty at Emory in 1996. He is currently the A. Worley Brown Professor of Neurology and the Associate Director of Emory’s clinical movement disorder program. His research focuses mostly on the brain activity changes that result in the motor disturbances of Parkinson’s disease, and on the development of new pharmacologic and surgical therapies to address these problems.

In addition to our esteemed hat judges, singer/songwriter Mitch Faile of "Blame it on the Parkinson's" fame will be on-hand with signed CDs available. He will not be bringing whiskey, rum, gin and tonics, OR Jager bombs. (If you don't get the reference, watch the video!)

Painter/Performance artist Lucas Evergreen has provided us with another original polo-themed work of art, which will be available in our silent auction.

Wilkins says, "This is my personal invitation to encourage you to join us for this special event!  If you are unable to attend, please consider a making a donation towards our mission in the fight against Parkinson's Disease."
