St Catharine's Fellows lead debate on climate change in the House of Lords

On 6 February 2020, the Rt Hon. the Lord Browne of Ladyton (Fellow Commoner, 2019) proposed a debate to the House of Lords that the House takes note of the recent report by UK Fires, Absolute Zero. The report discussed technological and lifestyle efforts to address climate change, and the "risky" reliance on breakthrough technologies to meet the 2050 net zero carbon emissions target.

UK Fires is directed by Professor Julian Allwood (2018), St Catharine's Fellow and Professor of Engineering and the Environment, and consists of a collaboration between five universities focused on locating resource efficiency at the heart of future industrial strategy. He also leads the Use Less Group, which aims to reduce industry demand for energy intensive materials.

Read the full report on the debate on our website.
Catz Calling!

From 15-28 March, a team of students will seek to speak with alumni around the world.

This is your opportunity to learn more about what’s happening throughout the College community, as well as the impact of the Our College, Our Future campaign on all aspects of College life. Students always enjoy hearing your memories, and are here to help answer with any queries you may have.

The support of alumni in response to the phone campaign means so much to all students. If you speak with a member of the team, we hope you enjoy your conversation and choose to help St Catharine’s in 2020.
