Thank You for Helping Us Fall for Smiles!

OHA's third annual Fall for Smiles® campaign has come to a close and encouraged nearly 1,000,000 Americans to maintain a healthy mouth through brushing and flossing, regular dental visits, tobacco avoidance, and a healthy diet. The campaign would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors: Aspen Dental, Crest & Oral-B, DentaQuest, Ivoclar Vivadent, the Hispanic Dental Association, Hu-Friedy, OralDNA Labs, Atlantic Precious Metal Refining, the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention, Patterson Dental, Midmark, Oral Healthcare Can’t Wait and Young Dental. We thank these companies and organizations for supporting OHA and Fall for Smiles!

Another Year Spreading Smiles Across America

OHA recently dispersed grants to our Smiles Across America® (SAA) partners for the 2012/2013 school season. These grants will go toward supporting school-based oral health programs throughout the country, providing sealants, fluoride varnish, and other preventative services to more than 400,000 students. Find out who our SAA partners are for the current school year and learn more about this important program.

The Wisdom Tooth Project at APHA

Programs Manager Amanda Ciatti presented at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting this month in San Francisco, focusing on the Wisdom Tooth Project (WTP). Amanda talked about the results of the online caregiver focus group, the plan for the online portal that launches at the end of this year, why Connecticut was chosen for the first local portal, and plans for the future of the program. Thank you to APHA for giving OHA the platform to discuss oral health for older adults. For more information about the WTP, visit the program's webpage.

Connecting with Connecticut

Oral Health America would like to recognize our 2011-2012 Wisdom Tooth Project Clinician Consultant, Dr. Ruth Goldblatt, who just finished her year-long contract with OHA. Thanks to her hard work, the Wisdom Tooth Project will be able to launch our first state web portal page for Connecticut. Not only did Dr. Goldblatt serve as an innovative contributor to the development of WTP, but she connected OHA with key players and resources to get our project underway.  We are very appreciative of all she has done and look forward to continued collaboration during the portal building process. Thank you, Ruth!
