Get Ready for September: Back to School with Fall for Smiles

OHA’s Fall for Smiles® campaign is right around the corner and there are plenty of ways to participate and spread the message about the importance of healthy food choices, regular dental visits, brushing and flossing daily, and avoiding tobacco products. Check out the social media guide on the Fall for Smiles web page for tips on how to participate via Facebook or Twitter. If you have a website, you can promote the campaign by posting the campaign’s web button. Get your local media involved by downloading the template letter to the editor and customizing it to your needs. Or use our tip sheet to help the children in your life keep a healthy smile. Visit the campaign’s web page for even more ways to participate. Help us put the spotlight on oral health this September and October!

Introducing This Year's NSTEP Slogan Contest Winner

Congratulations to Louie Lafakis from Basking Ridge, NJ, for winning this year’s NSTEP® (National Spit Tobacco Education Program) contest with: “Make a great play…throw tobacco away!” Inspired by his father’s countless attempts to quit, Lou has become a middle-school crusader against nicotine. OHA Announces Smiles Across America  Grantees for School Year 2011/2012 

This school year, Oral Health America welcomes four new programs as Smiles Across America®   partners and will award over $373,000 to a total of 20 programs.  Read more!

OHA Says Hello, Goodbye, and Congratulations! 

OHA welcomes Emma Harwell (above right) as the new Development Coordinator, who comes to the organization from Susan Ulin Associates where she provided fundraising and event planning consulting for nonprofits. We also welcome Christine Spencer (above left) as the new Administrative Assistant.  Christine, an avid triathlete, brings terrific executive assistant experience to our organization.

 After seven years with OHA, we say goodbye to Associate Director of Development Joe Donohue as he starts a new position at the American Association of Endodontists.  We will miss Joe, and are glad that his career path is keeping him in oral health and is taking him just a few blocks away from our office.  Thank you Joe, and congratulations on your new job.

10 Year Partnership

Oral Health America and Little League International celebrated 10 years of partnership on Wednesday August 24, 2011, at the Little League World Series. OHA congratulates Little League for their dedication to the NSTEP® program and for spreading the message to players nationwide that “Just because it’s smokeless, doesn’t mean it’s harmless.”

OHA Invited to Observe Alaska Program
