See What Your Support Has Accomplished

With 2012 coming to a close, OHA would like to thank all of you for supporting the vital work we do throughout the year. Whether you've made a gift to OHA, are involved directly or indirectly with one of our programs, or simply forwarded an email or shared a Facebook status talking about how we serve vulnerable children and older adults, we appreciate all of you. See what your support has allowed us to accomplish this year. Happy Holidays!

More to Smile About This Holiday Season

Philadelphia-based Smiles Across America® partner, Kids Smiles, has a lot to celebrate this holiday season. The organization was one of only two dental health care providers to receive a 2012 Healthcare Innovation Award from the Philadelphia Business Journal, receiving top recognition in the Health Improvement Award category. Kids Smiles was also awarded a grant from the Dental Trade Alliance Foundation to provide oral health education at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (pictured above). Congratulations on faithfully serving children in need!

Telling Millions About the Importance of Oral Health

The numbers are in, and this year's Fall for Smiles® campaign reached more people than ever before. Throughout September and October, the campaign generated more than 500 million audience impressions in 535 print and web articles, with nearly 30,000 impressions on social media including Facebook and Twitter. Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's campaign and we look forward to reaching even more people about improving their oral and overall health in 2013.

The Road to Water Fluoridation in Portland

Earlier this year, Portland, Ore., was the largest city in the country without water fluoridation. To generate public support for water fluoridation, the Everyone Deserves Healthy Teeth Coalition earned the endorsements from prominent politicians, including Oregon’s Governor, all five Multnomah County Commissioners, and many other local elected officials. After more than a year of campaign preparations, including a short one-month public campaign, Upstream Public Health and 82 partnering organizations successfully advocated Portland City Council to vote unanimously in favor of fluoridating Portland’s water supply. Click on the image above to view a video from the coalition's campaign and congratulations on this important win for oral health.

Give a Little to Do A Lot: Consider a $10 Donation!

No gift is too small to make a big impact. In fact, a DOUBLE impact!  EVERY gift through made through December 31st will be doubled thanks to a generous dollar for dollar match from our friends at Ivoclar Vivadent. Every dollar given to OHA helps bring access to oral health care to those who need it most, from children to older adults to those hit hard by the country's struggling economy.

This holiday season, we're asking our enewsletter readers to give $10 to support OHA's programs and campaigns and ensure that we can help even more Americans in 2013.
