The Latest from the CA LMI

Hello! This is the second LMI newsletter to keep you up-to-date on recent events, new resources, and upcoming opportunities for involvement. Please let us know what you think and what you would like to see in future issues.

We recently announced the dates for five CA LMI Spring 2016 Regional Convenings in April and May. If your team already registered, you are confirmed and the contact person listed on your registration form should have received an email indicating this - additional details will be coming shortly. We're looking forward to seeing you there!

We do have limited space still available for the convenings in Northern LA County and the Central Valley. Please s
end us an email if you haven't registered but are interested in attending one of these meetings.

Survey to Improve the LCAP Template

We invite you to complete the California Department of Education's recently launched online survey to improve the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) template. The CDE is seeking as much input as possible, so please take a few minutes to complete if you have thoughts about the LCAP template. The deadline to complete this survey is 5PM on March 25.

A Video Introduction to the CA LMI

Since the beginning, the CA LMI has been guided by our state-level education partners. The commitment of each of them has shaped the initiative to date. Check out this video to hear from our partners about why they support this work.

District Spotlight
When the district team from Alhambra Unified School District came to the May 2015 CA LMI Symposium in San Diego, they knew they needed to improve communication between management and labor.

Recently, Alhambra Unified School District volunteered to be a part of a series of CA LMI case studies. Click here to read a snapshot of where they are now and you can look forward to hearing more about their journey in the future.

Educator Excellence Summit

On January 20, 2016, several leaders of the CA LMI presented on labor-management collaboration at the California Educator Excellence Summit, an event designed to help local education agencies improve their professional learning systems. The panel, titled "The Power of Labor-Management Collaboration in Transforming Districts, Schools, and Teaching", focused on how labor-management collaboration can help advance educator excellence in California. You can read more about this panel here.
