13th Annual Spring Festival and Perennial Divide: Saturday May 17th 10:00 am to 2:00pm, 30 Edgewater Drive Mattapan, off of River Street. Bring Perennials to share and containers to bring home new plants for your garden. Shop for annual seedlings. City Natives, the BNAN Nursery grows perennials, offers plant supplies, soil compost for sale.

Free Tree!: Apply for a FREE TREE at bostonnatural.org  Check BNAN and BUFC Face book pages for updates and applications. Application deadline is April 4. If you’re selected for a free tree; Pick up is April 19. Open to all Boston residents and non-profits.

Save Water and Money: BNAN is again officering discounted Rain Barrels from the Great American Rain Barrel company  to Boston residents for $60.00. City of Boston Preservation Month 2014: Preservation Month is sponsored annually each May by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It is designed to raise awareness about the power historic preservation has to protect and enhance our historic communities. Saint Williams Dorchester Fund Scholarship: Application period is now open. Deadline for submissions is May 16th. If you will be attending college in the fall of 2014, live or go to school in Dorchester, have good grades, give back to your community and participate in musical or other artistic pursuits, we encourage you to submit an application for one of our (4) $1,000 scholarships as soon as possible. Graduating high school seniors, who plan to attend a fouryear college, are encouraged to apply. Scholarships will be awarded at an awards/social gathering to be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at the Phillips Banquet Facility (Morrissey Boulevard, Dorchester).
