Welcome to Clara!

A very warm welcome to our new i-Teams Deputy Director, Clara Aranda-Jan!

Clara is currently completing her PhD research at the Institute for Manufacturing, focusing on developing tools to make it easier to design medical devices for low resource environments. She has a background in sustainability and global health, and has worked previously for the World Health Organisation, UNICEF and Singapore University. She was also formerly an i-Teams student herself, working on the Just Milk project.

Awards for i-Teams alumni

Many congratulations to Immaterial Labs and WaterScope, winners of the first and second place prizes in Cambridge's first ever postdoc business plan competition!

The competition was run as a collaboration between Cambridge Enterprise and the EPOC society (Entrepreneurial PostDocs of Cambridge). Applications were of a very high quality, and four teams made it to the finals.

Immaterial Labs was formed by inventor Dr David Fairen-Jiminez, with Andrew Marsden and Thomas Fry from the original i-Teams project (Michaelmas 2014), while the WaterScope team includes four students from their Development i-Teams projects (Easter 2015 and Michaelmas 2015).

WaterScope have also won the Dr K Anji Reddy Award for Global Health Innovation from the Centre for Global Equality, which gives them ongoing mentorship from the Centre for Global Equality for the next year.
