This Week's Spotlights

Our Money Story Sermon Series

We are invited to discover and tell our money stories in light of God's money story of liberation and justice. We will be invited to transform our stewardship practices into more full expressions of who we are and what we believe. This stewardship season, we invite you to remember, release, reimagine, restore, and recommit your money stories so that we can write the story God is begging us to live into.
Creative practice - we are creating a mural, and we'd love for you to participate!  There are two ways to be involved:
*Pick up a creative packet, complete your pieces, and either return them to worship, drop them off in the office, or arrange for a pick up.  We'd love for everyone to be involved!
*Join us for creative hour each week. We'll meet at the following times:
October 27 - 6pm
Each of these sessions will also hold the opportunity for sharing in study scripture, prayer, and conversation!
Facebook Live - Join us at 11am on Wednesdays during October for scripture, prayer, and conversation!
A Word from the Stewardship Team
We hope that you all have received our mailings!  In case you have misplaced or if you have not received the pledge card in the mail, click here to view and print.  You can bring it back to service on October 31, turn it into the office or you can mail it in.  If you have any questions you can call the office.
Policy Update from Your Pastors:
Registration is no longer required for 10:30 worship.
We remain committed to caring for our neighbor:
Let's stay vigilant in our efforts to protect our community.  Please remember that any person over the age of two must “mask up” before entering our building, regardless of vaccination status, and remain masked for the duration of your stay in the building.  Masks are available if needed.
We are all called to the ministries of serving, caring, and connecting with one another safely. As Delta surges continue, may we change more and more into the likeness of Jesus.
Free At Home Covid Testing Kits
The City of Worthington has a supply of free take-home COVID-19 testing kits available to pick up at the Worthington Community Center. Kits can be picked up during open hours.  For more information please visit the website.
Year End Tax Planning Tips
Year End Tax Planning tips! Did you know that if you are 72 years old you are required to take a minimum distribution from your IRA and pay taxes on some or all of that distribution? However, you can avoid that tax by having those funds distributed directly to a qualifying charity. Donations of stock have the added benefit of giving you a tax deduction based on what the stock is selling for on the date of the gift, not what you paid for it. Finally, any prepayment of 2022 pledges could have an impact on your Tax Year 2021 tax situation. If you know you will be able to itemize your deductions for Tax Year 2021 and may not for 2022, consider prepaying a portion of your pledge. If you have any questions about these donation methods, please reach out to our Business Manager, Matthew Smith at

New Life Is In Need of Items

Thank you for your support of this important mission.  There is an immediate need for deodorant, white athletic socks and new underwear sizes S, M, L.  We also accept men’s jeans and pants (smaller sizes are usually the biggest need) and gently used hoodie sweatshirts of any size. We can always use personal hygiene products. Donations are being collected underneath the pantry cabinets next to the church office.

We want to ensure we are staying connected with you because you matter.  We have recently sent out a newsletter and two stewardship mailings.  If you have received them, I am so happy.  If you haven't, I have some work to do!  I would like to include you and your family in all that we do here at Linworth UMC. Please let me know if we need to add you or update your information into our database.  Reach out to Stephanie or call the office.

Get Involved

 Hilltop Community

Linworth’s support of our ministry work in the Hilltop area of Columbus helps us partner with diverse groups such as Burroughs Elementary School, Celebrate One’s initiative for the well health of newborns and under 1s, the Highlands Youth Garden, Ville on the Hill support for elderly people, fresh produce markets and free lending libraries, and various initiatives through the Shalom Zone.
We are looking forward to getting back in the neighborhood sometime soon and are always open to new ideas on how to serve.  If you are looking for a place to share your talents and your ministerial service, and would like to know more, please contact Laurie Sandall 614-329-1508 or Pastor Sara

New Volunteer Opportunity

We have an opportunity to assist in classrooms at W. Broad ES.   Our Hilltop ministry has a good relationship with WBES, including the school being a site for produce distributions,  cohosting dinners, providing financial and clothing assistance as needed, partnering for summer reading programs, as well as helping with volunteers during the school year. If you are interested in this wonderful ministry, please contact Cindy Leonard (volunteer coordinator). Or you may also contact Pastor Sara for more information.
