Weekly Newsletter
Hi everyone,

On Thursday last week after school, the School and CPAC hosted a Retirement Tea for Karen Halls, who has been a fixture at our school for many years. What a wonderful event and a great way to say thank you to someone who has played such a big role in our school community for so long. Thank you and well done to  Lucy Cayuela, Darlene Maser and Mrs McNaughton, who were the people responsible for organizing the event.

Over the past few months a number of parents have put forward ideas for fundraising and various extramural. Sometimes the idea has come about when chatting on the playground or just something someone mentions in passing - but all the great extramural activities that the CPAC is involved in (lunch time games in the library, the chess club, last years technology club and many more) came about because someone (one of our parents) had a GREAT IDEA. If you have an idea for any activity which you think we should know about there is an online form which gives you the opportunity to summarize the idea and let us know about it.

Later this month the first of the two annual Scholastic Book Fairs will be held in the school library starting on the 21st   November (set up) and the 24th to 27th November (Book Fair). We need  parents to help out in various shifts before school, during lunch and after school. If you would like to volunteer you can sign up here, or on the sign up sheets outside the library.

Cheers,

Victoria

Comments from our Crossing Guard.
Of all the CPAC activities, none have a higher daily profile than our Crossing Guards. Our Crossing Guards volunteer in the rain, snow and sun and we all see them if we are near the school in the morning, and we notice if they are not there. This is a comment from one of our crossing guards this week.

Carisbrooke Elementary

Get Caught Reading: Carisbrooke School Library This year our reading theme is "Get Caught Reading". Students are asked to bring in a picture of themselves reading or being read to by a parent or friend. Pictures will be on display on the library bulletin board in the foyer. Students have also been given reading sheets to keep track of the number of days they read. Once a student has read for 25 days they bring in their sheet and receive another recording sheet. Again this year there will be gift certificates for the Scholastic Book Fair. Each Month, when a student hands in their reading record sheet their name will be entered into a draw for a gift certificate to purchase merchandise at our next Scholastic Book Fair. There will be one $10 gift certificate drawn at each grade level. At the end of the year, if the student has read for at least 100 days, they will have a book dedicated in their name given to the library.

A reminder that the Grade 6 Immunizations are happening on the 27th Nov. Any Grade 7 who missed their immunizations last year can attend as well
