Just how do you get those emotions under control?
This week, we are discussing:

The secret to being happy...

be the master of your emotions.

Emotional Intelligence.

When people think of intelligence they often think of the type where you sit a test and get a number and that number respresents how clever and intellectual you are. Emotional intelligence refers to how well you manage your emotions and the emotions of those around you. Let me give you an example. If you are having a discussion with someone and they something you disagree with, you have two choices. You can disagree with them repeatedly until it turns into an argument or you can decide they are entitled to their opinion and let it go. It takes two people to have an argument and if you do not engage it just cannot continue.

So how do we do that?

The easiest way to develop emotional intelligence is to think about your thinking. Do this in a curious way. For example if somebody says something that triggers an emotional response in you, take a moment to recognise not only what you are feeling but what are you saying to yourself. This will help you to not only master your emotions but to discover where the responses originate from.
