Why would you choose to work with a coach? Well, let me share a bit of my story of why.
This week, we are discussing:

Why I choose to work with a coach?

It's not really that surprising.

Sometimes people are surprised to find that I work with a coach. I do. For too many years I resisted getting a coach for myself even though I worked as a coach. I'd heard it all- all the best people in any industry work with a coach...a coach will help you explore your own inner world...a coach will be objective and help you see things in yourself. Well the truth is, I knew (and still do) a lot of coaches. And I wasn't sure I was ready to really, really do the work. I didn't feel comfortable to go deep into 'my stuff' with any of those people. Sure we would connect and when coaches get together they can't help but be in coaching mode to some degree. Coaching isn't something you decide you want to be, it is something you are drawn to and over time realise this is what you are here for.

In 2013 I attended a Tony Robbins event in Sydney. I decided then that if I was going to work with a coach, it would be one of Tony's coaches. I signed up and then almost backed out. Was I really ready to let go of all my excuses about why my life wasn't the one I really wanted? Was I really ready to be challenged? Was I really ready to see changes in myself that I had seen in my own clients? Yes, I was. Susie is my coach and we have had a coaching session every 10 days ever since. 3 times a month I call her up, she holds me accountable, I laugh, I cry and I have AHA moments every time.

I have done' so many things over my lifetime. I've studied psychology, gender studies, sexology, all the great business coaches, I've done personal development workbooks, retreats and participated in many groups. I've studies a lot of different communication, personality styles and leadership techniques that have helped me achieve things. But let me tell you, nothing else compares to the work I do on me when Susie is coaching me. I know this is also true for those that I coach. I think the reason is this. When you work with a coach and you have committed to always being honest in that relationship, then it's OK to just be you. That might be raw, vulnerable, empowered, pissed off or super excited.

Someone said to me last week that they had been spending time with a friend. The friend made them feel great and when they went back to their everyday life it felt like there was a void. Let me share with you what that is. There are certain places in the world where you can be all that you are, you can be imperfect, you can be vulnerable and you can say anything. You don't have to edit you in any way. That person loves and supports you just as you are. Not in a romantic way, just in a way that says 'I'm here for you just as you are'. Because I am now more 'me' than I have ever been there are more of these people showing up in my world. And that started when I started working with Susie and she held that space for me to just be...imperfect, vulnerable, challenged, afraid, excited and everything else.

So, let me ask you this. Is it time for you to find a place where you can just be, explore and get to know you? Is it time to love who you are? Is it time to stop hiding from the world and just be happy? I'd love to help you with that. I have just had 5 spaces open up for personal coaching.

I don't work with everyone and so if you would like to have a chat about whether this might be for you I suggest you be quick. You can email me to make a time for a chat so I can answer any questions and also ask you some. You see working with a coach is a two way street. I might not be the right coach for you. Or I might. It can sometimes take some searching to find just that person where you know you can be you.
