Bard's Graduate Center is presenting my monologue Love Story, in a lovely gallery uptown on West 86th Street. The piece is about a misfit you might pass by daily, who walks every street in our city, watching parts of it change, disappear and regenerate. One night in a restaurant, he finds himself wrapped up in the world of a couple and starts following them everywhere for months.
Love Story features ridiculously smart projection design by Janet Wong and a wistful, beatific score by T. Griffin. Frank Harts owns the role.
The April shows are part of a weekend called Ritual and Capital, with a keynote and conversation by Claudia Rankine and Garnett Cadogan, a reading room, exhibitions and walking tours. Love Story fits right in - it's about the ways that walking through a city makes an imprint on you, and vice versa.
